Algae

I am using Rockwool cubes and am obviously getting crazy algae build up on the tops of them. I was thinking of using my poly/ white side up to cover the Rockwool and just cut holes where the girls will pop through. Is this a good idea or a bad idea? I know the algae is not doing any good for them, but I am not sure if the plastic would make it worse. 4x4 tray, 1000w, about 50 girls, water temp 68-72, room temp 70-80 day, 65-75 night, humidity 41%, bubbler in resevoir, need anymore info?
