I'm an Alaskan with a state medical cannabis card. Although Alaska per capita marijuana use is believed to be high, there are no visible legal sources here--no dispensaries, co-ops, etc. States don't recognize other states' MM registries, so MM providers in a given state typically won't sell to out-of-state patients. I don't have any leads on reliable street sources. And I don't much like the idea of hanging around the bus depot in a marijuana T-shirt looking like I'd like to buy something. Among other reasons, I'm a retired public servant whom the police will easily recognize.
I possess a few (purported) marijuana seeds, which were quite easy to obtain on-line. I suppose I will plant them eventually, just to see what they do. But I couldn't grow fungus under a toenail, so I'm not optimistic. There's also the odor issue. I regularly entertain professional and business associates. I'm told that the odor of growing marijuana is unmistakeable. Yes, it would be legal, and no, it wouldn't be any of their business. But I've gotten ahead in life partly by being careful never to show my hand until a moment of my own choosing. The habits of a lifetime aren't easily shaken off. I suppose one way to grow my own MM would be to find someone to designate as my "caregiver," who could perhaps raise the plants for me. But, again, the problem is how to find the right person.
What I need is some way to make the right contacts, in my own state, and possibly in Washington and Oregon. I don't necessarily mean suppliers--just people with experience who could advise me about where and how to look for those interests complementary to mine. I'm in no hurry. I appreciate the personal side of doing business. I have plenty of money and don't mind paying the right party well. I'm looking for quality product, absolute discretion, and mutual trust. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
