Kenai - Dozens of people waited in line to be the first ones in Kenai's first marijuana shop on Monday.
The Peninsula Clarion reports that Red Run Cannabis Company opened its doors Monday to a line across the parking lot.
Red Run was selling nine strains of marijuana on its opening day. Though Red Run is licensed to cultivate marijuana, its own product is not yet ready to be sold. Red Run was able to open with product grown outdoors by a Kasilof-based cultivator, Greatland Ganja.
Red Run owner Roger Boyd says he first applied to a license to both sell and grow marijuana as both a statement and a business. He says he believes marijuana has been normalized as both a medication and a mild intoxicant.
