Afgoo - First Time Seed Grow

ok, so last night I was out with the ladies and i was checking out some of the leaves, and i noticed that on one of the lateral branches that a few of the leaves are starting to crumble away... i remember that the white widow did that too!!! does anybody know what this is a sign of???

and also, i heard that when the fingers start to do a under curl like claws, then the plant is not getting enough nutes??? anybody concur???

Yeah I have seen these cases caused by deficiency. Sometimes there can be to much of another nutrient that can block the absorbtion of needed nutrients. You may want to flush with PH'd water then provide new nutes at like 1/2 dose and weed into them slowly again.

One of your fan leaves looked like it was nibbled on.
Also it looked like a small white mite egg on an underside leaf too.

:peace: And goodluck Amigo.

oh soooo sorry there buddy!!!

I did do a comment, but my delivery guy showed up and ash got on the computer and i thought i had clicked post, but i guess i didnt and she closed it up... so sorry my friend!! yea that WW has some serious Nitrogen needs!!! mine was all solid green when i got her!!! but with as much as we learn here im sure you wont have any problems!!! that Blue dream looks great man!!! great job on her!!! I also have been thinking about getting something to get my nutes all mixed up in but i just dont have the space!!! i thought about 5 gallon buckets, but even them i would have to keep outside!!! i just dont like the thought of that!!!

No problem my friend... I will let you slide this time :).
Yeah, the Widow was just left under lights with no care for a little over a week.
I believe it was burned a bit cause the light was to close and yes is suffering some nutrient deficiency. She is now sitting in some nice rich organic soil and has been watered with some nice clean ph'd water with a few goodies in it to help bring her back to health. It will be fun to watch her rebound. It is kewl how much the different genetics can determine the plants appearance. Just like your Aphgan...I love the nice wide (Indica) type leaves and how the plant takes on the super bushy look from the get go. Where you take the Sativa with it's long slender leaves and ability to grow by leaps and bounds.. I've always loved plants, but this year has really inspired me. I can't wait till next year. I hope to carry out my greenhouse plans. Even with my new plants that I planted in pots, it's really nice to be able to have the flexibility of moving them. Also you can set them in the perfect places so they can soak up sun from 360 degrees. I was limited with the plants that I set in the ground since they are right up against a fence. With that kind of setup you can only get sun from the front and sides.

Keep me updated on your plants condition.
I'm sure it will turn around just fine.

Aston, that looks like it may be a cal/mag deficiency. Are you using R/O water? If so, you may need to add some cal/mag or epsom salts, or something. If not, I would suspect a PH issue and you may need to add some lime to the soil to lower the soil PH. To be sure, you can either use a soil PH tester, or test the PH of your water, then water the plants, then test the PH of the runoff. You'll see what effect your soil is having on your PH. :goodluck:

By looking at the last photo, when do you think I should begin flushing?
I am guessing I have at least 4 more weeks until harvest. This photo shows about the first 4-6 weeks of flowering.. I'm not sure what the flowering period of the Purple OG Kush is.

I told you, you gotta get your own journal!!! LOL anyways, how long has she been in flowering??? see I estimated that when i noticed the flowers popping out in my Afgoo, it was on the 7th of this month, so i estimated that she started around July 27th - August 1st so with that said i figure that mine is on week 2 - 3... but if your feeding it organics then you really dont have to care about it. from my experience from the white widow grow, i did my final flushings at what i thought was the last 2 weeks, but i harvested 6 days early, and my buds tasted beautiful!!! but just watch the trics, when they start mostly getting cloudy, mostly meaning about 75% - 85% of them get ready to do it and just watch them every day til they start getting more ambers, then flush!!! about 15% ambers

Your plants look nice and full bodied.. Good job my brotha..
As each stage of development progresses I have been reading more and more.
A lot of it is just reinforcement of what I have already learned. Outside of that it is interesting to read different views and opinions from various growers. There are so many tips and tricks to learn.
I have read that during flowering you want to taper off on the nutes (which I already knew). As you said if you have been using organic nutes you don't really have to worry about it. Me though, I have been using chemical based fertilizer.

At this point I am going to provide one more feeding at 1/2 dose then taper down on the watering. I read that during flowering the buds seem to get fuller and more potent when you water less (something like that). Not sure if that is true or not. I also read that once the trichomes have all turned cloudy then you flush. When the trichs are 75 percent Amber or the majority of the pistols have turned brown then you harvest. The pistol method though I hear is not as accurate of a indicator.

As for my Azamax, I have a spraying this week and I am thinking I will stop after that and just ride through until harvest. This way I provide a few weeks of absence to rid the plant of that stuff.

Next grow I will do a journal. I think with my little White Widow and my cloned Blue Dream that their grow will be a short one with minimal yield.
As for my mothers, they are now on the end of their cycle.

astonr420, you should add the root magic to the soil. Work it into the top couple of inches

Whats good BPN!!!
I would use some of it on the A1 but with the LSTing going on, the roots are all over the top, I have to cover them over every time I water!!! but I will certainly get that into the feeding regimen next, and im sure I can work it into A2!!!

Whats good Debudman!!!
Yea I am going to use the Azamax all the way through also!!! and yes, that sounds like a good way of knowing when to harvest also!!! make sure you dont get many of the amber trics falling over though!!! thats when they are starting to decompose, and you lose THC in your buds!!!

Dude I cant wait for you to get that journal up!!! better believe that I will be in there!!!

Yeah those little bastards just don't want to go away. I avoided major infestation and greatly slowed down their game, but each day I still see leafs that are infected. I pick them off and try to take out anything bad looking. Today I gave the lady's a nice drink and followed it up with a 1/2 dose of bloom nutes :MoreNutes:. I am now switching to a weekly feeding until flush. Can you believe my little sole survivor clone is now flowering already too...Well I guess when that time comes it doesn't discriminate on plant age.

Hey I was checking out some meters today...
Here is the little baby I want to get.

What ya think?

Oh and I bet you can't wait until I create my journal so you can come in and take over like I did with yours ("Am I right?") Haha :laughtwo:

Hey Aston,

Just fired up a little nugget dipped in oil (reminds me of how nice the oil can really be)
RoorRip I did get the crap all over my fingers though. Damn it is hard to get off, sticks like glue. Anyway I just licked it off, thought maybe it would make me higher... haha What was that ole saying Clint Eastwood used to say... Ah Yes, "Improvise, Overcome and Adapt!" lol. :)

Peace my brotha

Has anybody ever heard of the 40/60 Phenomena??? and if so!!! do you know or think it is for indoor use only??? or can you use this to help determine the approximate harvest date of the outdoor ladies??? just from when they started flowering they should approximately be ready for harves on or around September 22nd!!!

I searched the web for this and Yes, it indicates it is for indoor only.
This is triggered during the start of the 12/12 photo period.
Seems its purpose is to allow one to better calculate rapid growth and flowering days to help you prepare and not run out of head room for your plant. Something like that anyway. Just make sure you have plenty of space and you shouldn't have to worry about that I would think. :) Oh and if you regularly LST it shouldn't be a problem either.
