Hello everyone, and welcome to my newest indoor gardening adventure! This will mark the begining of my fourth grow, and my second journal.. I feel like I have learned a ton so far, both by reading and by hands on growing. Can't wait to learn what these new plants have to teach me.
The Goal: Realistically I would like to get 3oz out of each plant, I will grow 2 plants for a total of 6oz dry. I think that with the knowledge I've gained thus far, this is totally possible. If I can get more, I will be super stoked!
Strain Type: The biggest challenge I am facing is that once again, I've decided to grow seeds of unknown strains. there is a price to pay for using surprise seeds you found in some good bud, and this is it. These 2 plants will most likely be of different strains, I'm sure one will be more sensitive to the nutrients, and probably drink less as well. Would be nice to know flowering times, and all that junk but this should be fun anyhow. Challenge accepted..
The Setup: Everything will start out in this seedling/clone hut, which was created underneath one side of a large fish tank. Using a large cardboard divider to block the light from exiting behind or to the side. Light is a 24 or so watt screw in type LED, purchased a while back. Sits in a clamp on fixture from the hardware store. Total cost is around 30 bucks. Humidity and temperature are ambient, about 73-75*f and 50-60% RH. Basically, whatever it is in the house, as the lights don't seem to make a heat difference in the box.
Once i have the space available, they will move to this 2x2x4 tent. The light inside is a Mars Hydro 300. There will be 1 small fan pulling air in from the bottom, and another small fan pushing air out of the top. This should hopefully keep my temperature at 80*f or below..
They will eventually be moved to this 2x4x5 tent. There are 2 Mars Hydro 300 Lights hanging from the top, hopefully giving them all the light they require. Once again there is a small fan pulling air in, and one pulling air out. This will later be changed to a 4" exhaust fan and carbon canister filter during flower (pictured)
Nutrients: I will be using Fox Farm nutrients, mostly because that's what I have already lol. The best thing I can suggest when using these nutes is to take it easy at first, and let your plants tell you what's up. The last thing you want to do is burn your plants. With the basic Trio, Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom I will start with 1/4 of the weekly dosage and work up to 1/2 strength. The plants should do the talking if they need more or less. Also using 3 more liquid nutes from their Boomerang series. Still haven't decided for sure if I'm using them, especially the foliar spray. Any info or suggestions with these is appreciated, but like always I will do more reading about them.
Getting started: After Soaking them in water for about 8 hours, the 2 seeds were each placed into soil mix about 2 inches deep and lightly covered with remaining soil. I watered them fairly heavy, and left them under a light for about a week. The pots are about quart size with small holes drilled all around the bottom for drainage. The soil itself is Pro-Mix potting soil for Vegetables. They should be good on nutes for a bit, but I will keep a close eye on them just in case.
