A few close-ups from my first grow

Happy New Year! I took these pics from my first grow last summer. It started off as an outdoor grow but took longer than planned so I had to quick figure out indoor growing. I got these pics while they were still outside...

Hi IslandDog.

Welcome to :420:

Stunning photo's! How did the transition from outside to inside turn out?

Thanks! Overall it went way better than expected. A sudden cold spell... Switch to CFL... And now that I've done a lot more reading realize I wasn't giving them enough light. Nutrients that were off... Tap water... Spider Mites... Caterpillar eggs... Bud-Rot... etc, etc, etc... I still managed to pull out almost a 1/2 lb from 3 main plants and a few small ones that I got maybe a 1/2 oz combined. The last (first) MMJ grow was quite a learning experience.

Now if I can just implement what I learned from the last one I should be in good shape. ;)

this is very encouraging to me, because I do not know the strain origin of my seeds and I'm about to go in with my first grow- I sure as hell hope mine turns out like that:bravo:

Wow, to have overcome all that and still pull a half lb. from 3 plants in your first grow is something to be proud of. I think you have a future at this! LOL

Be well and happy growing.

Thanks! Just stay on top of them. As long as you catch it early enough you can fix almost anything.

great job on a first grow, those are some great photos--(what camera did you use?)

can you post pictures of the whole plant??
I use a Nikon Cookpix L110. Most of the other people I know who have one have no idea how I get the pics I do. LOL

These are the 3 main plants before I brought them inside. It was the last time I managed to get a pic of all of them together.

I has 2 of the 150W equivalent CFL's on each plant. It was enough to get some more growth and give them enough time to finish.

Another nice close-up

Because of lighting, nutes, etc, they all finished at different times. Here's a pic of some of it that was drying. On the wall behind them is an outlet so you have an idea how big they were.

I get a little OCD sometimes when it comes to whatever I'm working on. When I had the spider mites I wrapped electrical tape on each of my fingers and pulled each mite and egg off of every leaf. It took me a little over a week to get rid of them all, but I did it... :)

That would be great. It had a strong/harsh but yet fruity taste to it. After it was dried and we enjoyed some of it we looked at each other and both said "I don't ever remember something that tasted like this, where did it come from?". LOL

That whole grow started off as a whim... I was sitting in my office, my other half was planting some flowers in the garden, I saw the empty trays and some seeds sitting on my window-sill and said what the heck... Once it seemed like the seedlings would live we both got our cards so everything was legit. And then after everything was said and done I had no problem getting the ok to work a grow room into the budget.

sound like how I got started, lmao bag of seeds and some time to kill

I dropped 15 first time and 13 were females, hahaha talk about panic I spend the next 2 weeks building rooms and buying supplies
have spent the last 3 years trying to figure these things out

Exactly! LOL

I had 10 seeds... 7 of them grew... All of them were females. I just wish I would have gotten the 4 small plants into the same lighting the big plants had way sooner.

Fortunately I have over 20 years of gardening experience so it's not like I have to learn everything new. I just have to tweek what I know for these plants.

Very nicely done, I woul recommend highly that you use a base of 175 watts cfl for one plant (like 6 bulbs) and then an additional 75 watts for each additional plant..... Keep them within 4 inches always.... You did amazing for what you had, good work!

Beautiful pictures! And plants.....love the story of how you started growing too. They look awesome. I wish I could tell you what your bag seed bud is, but it sure looks tasty.:circle-of-love:
Are you using a jewelers loupe attached to your Nikon digi camera lens?
+reps for a lovely first grown and for the great pictures!

Thanks for the info Redlan! I still have the CFL's but have them for emergency purposes this time. After that first grow I was able to say "If we would have bought all this we would have paid $$$$$, so I'm going to take part of that and upgrade!". I now have a closet lined in mylar and a 5th LED on it way to me now. With the addition of the new LED I'll be up to 880W for 18 sq ft and 4 plants. :)

Thank you very much, it sure was tasty. I had a little put away and we finally finished it off last night.

Nope, just the camera lens. I do have a tripod that I use for shots like that. I'll get the camera lens as close as I can and use the tripod and timer. Sometimes if it was windy or if the fan turned and blew the wrong way the colas would bump against the lens and I would have a bunch of spots on the pic. LOL

Yep, know exactly what you mean. When I put the loupe on my camera to get my macro shots I get sticky messes on it. It's a pain to clean off!
