LUDHIANA, INDIA: City police recovered 90 kg ganja from three persons at Focal Point area on Sunday. Drugs were being supplied by the accused over a long time to different areas in the city, police claimed.
Sandeep Wadhera, SHO Focal Point, said the accused were identified as Sheikh Habilah, who hails from Betia in Bihar, Sunita Singh, who also belongs to Betia and Sujeet Kumar, a Patna resident. It was stated that they were caught after a regular check was carried out under tight security in accordance with the SSP's directions.
Habilah was caught on the check post with 40 kg ganja. During interrogation, he told police the supply was being sent to Sunita Singh, living near Fish Market, close to Sherpur Chowk, from where, 35 kg ganja was seized. He further named Sujeet, who was caught from 100 foot road with 15 kg ganja.
Wadhera said the accused had smuggled the consignment via the international border with Nepal and had brought the same to the city after boarding different trains.
He added that the drugs were being supplied here for the past many years.
"We are quite sure that we would be able to cull more useful information from the accused during the course of further investigation".
