600wt MH HPS

is 600wt too much for a 4 2 5 foot tent? too much heat and will it produce a high yield or do i need 1000wt

I don't have a tent,,yet, but from my experience in about the same sq/ft, the 400 should be fine. Of course 600 is better, but in that small space I think the heat would be an issue. If you go 600, make sure you get a good fan.

Plus at only 5 ft high and room for hanging the lamp (6-12in) and distance from the plants for a 600 (18 in) your just under 3 ft for the plants. Minus about a foot for the pot, you only have >2 ft for the plant height. You might want to consider a scrog to keep them low.

I have about 7 ft head room with a 600w. The plants got out of control big and they all had to be bent or topped to keep them away from the light. 4 ft plants are a big waste of space in a small room. only the tops are really getting good light. Bad room management this time, and I think using the Bountea Superfood plant tabs made them grow like "weeds"

the last grow was a little better height wise. Still a little crowded, but not much wasted growth.

thanks for the info, atm i am actually running 1000wt in there but have to keep the tent doors open because of all the heat, and believe me, i have fans...lol so im thinking that the 600wt will be better. im running an aeroponic set up so im only about 6inches off the ground right now. i only want to grow them to be about 2-2 1/2 feet and then put them in flower. im also pinching them a lot so that its just a huge top tent. im hoping this will work... this is my first grow with my MH/HPS lights, my last ones have been with cfl's and they just dont produce the buds that i want.... now will the 600wt produce bigger buds then the 400wt considering ill have 70 wt per sq ft instead of the 50 per sq with the 400

You wont get to much to grow, but the bud will dry just nice and fast...lo
600w HPS does 1 square yard or 1 cubic meter...stick with a 250MH or 200w HPS or 400w HPS with 6" venting

I think 2-2.5 ft veg is to much also. They will end up stretching almost another foot.

does that go for sativa and indica alike or just mainly the saitiva since the indica is normally a more shorter/stockier plant.

Well a true indica may not stretch as much, but most hybrids will. You can always top, bend or LST to keep height under control. I do a lot of all 3.

yeah, i have been topping them, but i have some tora-bora that is pure indica also and the leaves are just droopy as heck, is that normal for those plants, the rest of mine arent like that so i didnt think it was heat or nute related buy i dont know, the other strains are chemdawg, sour D, herijuana a couple God Buds and a new strain my buddy started called MILF BERRY.

sorry I'm not familiar with the strains.

Maybe the droopy one needs watered more often than the others. is the pot light?

im running an aeroponic system, she gets water....... and no the leaves are a really dark green, just droopy. i checked the roots and they are growing more everyday so i dont know what it is.
