About how much does a 1 600watt HID MH/HPS light affect your electric bill?

if my math is right, a dollar forty a day. That is 18 hours a day at $0.14 a kilowatt hour

Yeah as George says - check what your local power rates are, which will be charged by the Kilowatt hour (kWh). A 600 watt light uses 0.6 kWh per hour.

Normally in veg the light is run 18 hours a day and for flowering photoperiod strains it’s 12 hours a day.

Where I live it’s a little over 9 cents per kWh. Let’s call it $.09

So for veg it’s
Rate ($.09) x 18 (hours) x .6 (amount the light uses per hour) = $.97

So 97 cents per day for veg with a 600 watt light in my case.

That will be your minimum charge. If your electric bill is anything like mine there's all kinds of little extra fees added in which could increase your usage by a couple cents an kilowatt hour

Ok, thanks a bunch guys. Just was wondering, cuz next grow i will be using the 600watt MH/HPS and kinda wanted a ballpark idea of what to expect for the electrical usage

Yeah, they’ll take any chance to bump your bill up a little here and there. Also fans will use a small amount
Take a look around at what other household things are adding to the bill and it will put things in perspective. .

Its the 600 watt ipower mh/hps digital electronic ballast and using the ipower MH 600watt and ipower superHPS 600watt

I see. I forgot some of these new-fangled ballasts can run multiple types now. What bulbs have you got?

@YellowBelly Ipower 600watt metal halide and ipower 600 watt super high pressure sodium, but im not using them till next grow... using phlizon 1200w (246 from wall) + another nameless shitty blurpy ( about 120watts from wall) so about 360 to 370 true watt (just want to see what they will do) and gotta say, veg was excellent so far, 9 days into flower now
