Two different vehicle inspections yield more than 600 pounds of marijuana, stopped at the border, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
Officers say both busts happened on Sunday at the Santa Teresa port of entry.
One of them involved more than 500 pounds of pot that was found in the ceiling of a van, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office.
The second bust involved nearly 100 pounds of marijuana, compacted into 80 bundle that was hidden in the rear bumper of a small SUV, officers say.
The two busts combined add up to more than a half-a-million dollars in street value, according to officials.
Drug-sniffing dogs helped alert officers to the drugs during inspections, officers say.
Marcos Antonio, 29, Pargas of Los Lunas, New Mexico was arrested for the marijuana found in the ceiling of the van and Christian Moises Estrada, 30, of El Paso, Texas, was arrested for the marijuana found in the rear bumper of the SUV, according to officials.
Both suspects have been turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations department.
