Hutchinson Island, Fla. -- Six suspected illegal immigrants who came ashore in St. Lucie County are in federal custody.
Authorities were alerted early Sunday when someone at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel called 911.
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said the six people were carrying duffel bags filled with about 110 pounds of marijuana.
They were handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs officials.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office recovered a boat, which was also turned over to the federal agency.
