400W HPS vs 400W Mars LED

Hello there everyone, hope yo all having a great day!
So as the title says I have a question about lightning. I am finally building my first grow box(think Im ready, plus I got some cash to put in). I am building 1 meter x 1 meter x 2 meters(height) grow box and my main question is should I use HPS on that size or would LED be sufficient enough to feed the plants light?
I am planing to have 6-7 plants on grow, and all will be auto flowering at least for first two grows. Also as I said question what should be the max number of plants I should have on 1x1x2 space? Is 7 ok?

@DrFeber 3 x 3 x 6? I am talking about 1 meter x 1 meter x 2 meters. Did you change it to some other unit? Thanks!

TheCelt Its a huge difference in power 400w and 900w, guess 400w Mars led wouldnt be enough.
 
@TheCelt I undrestand, unfortunetly the 900W Mars is out of my budget. :\\ Have u ever grown with HPS?

Happy growing! Tell me how did the CFLs do? How many did u have? On what space size? How many plants there?

Hey mate, no worries, ask all the question that come to mind :)

There were 25 CLFs at 23w each in a 1mx1m area.

The girls did excellent under the CFLs while they were vegging. I never flowered under them as I had bought my LED by then.
I started with 9 at a time under the CLFs at first I think, then when I got the LED, I put 16 maybe under the CFLs.

They are getting good results no doubt, I like some of the LED grows I am seeing, don't get me wrong. Lack of penetration can be managed by staying on top of defoliation. I think in 5 years LEDs will be awesome, but for the time being for my money I have to stick to HID. Now that's from my limited experience. When the Cree and Vero units become more affordable I am going to check into one.
 
For sure, Mars is coming out with their Pro Series next month and they have the option of CREE LEDs in them. I am just waiting to see how CO does with, and thinks, of them and then see what the price is going to be. I am interested in them but price and results speak volumes.

I live in a very fd up country in East EU and we dont have a lot of products offered when it comes to indoor growing. eBay, Amazon etc dont ship here, and traveling out to get stuff is not an option atm. The only lights they have here are 1000W, 400W and 250W that comes with MH & Super Bloom HPS. I asked Mars if they would ship here and they would but shipping plus customs would cost like 130$ for Mars 400w, and I think it wouldn't do good enough for what I have in plan. The guy that sells growing stuff here told me that 400W can do good job in 0.9 meters x 0.9 meters space. Now the question that i asked but no one answered yet is 7 plants in that much space realistic? I am talking bout autos mostly indica type. Im expending my company so I guess ill have more money to invest by the end of the year.
 
I honestly don't know how big (round) autos get, my guess would be that 4 in that area would be lots but it all depends on the strain. Check out Dennise's, SweetSue's and TheNuttyProfessor's grow journals and ask them about auto's. They have all grown the THC Bomb auto for sure and maybe some other's. They are likely to give you a good idea on space requirements or atleast point you in the right direction :)
