400w bagseed closet grow

I just started my 6th week of flowering (Day 36). I used 8 26w CFL bulbs to veg with and I used MG twice during veg. When I switched to 12/12 I used a 400w HPS (my first time using and I love it) plus the Fox Farm trio. I topped once a week before 12/12. Just bagseed so nothing fancy. I had a mag def in one of the plants and I've been giving it epsom salt which I think is finally helping. Also been giving it some molasses every other watering. I started off with 4 plants, one was a male and one was a hermie so now I'm left with two females.

I was experimenting with the flash on my camera. That's why the first one looks dark and the other ones look lighter. I guess the trichs reflect the camera flash pretty good.

Looking good mjgrow420! This plant although is a bagseed is very sativa dominate. Sativa usually finishes late 9-12 weeks. What's the strength you're feeding these plants at from FF trio pack? Nice pics, the flash definitely helps in bringing out the trichomes.

Thanks for the compliment. I had a lot of damage done to the leaves of one plant due to the mag deficiency and that kind of worried me. Even the bud leaves had a lot of damage. I think it's under control now though.

Do you really think it's sativa dominant? I was hoping to harvest about week 8 but I guess I'll have to wait a little longer. I cut a tip off a bud leaf from each plant and checked the trichs under my little pocket microscope. I'm seeing some clear and a few cloudy... not many cloudy yet though. The plants are about 4 1/2 - 5 feet tall.

I've been following the fox farm schedule. Check it out here. - https://foxfarmfertilizer.com/soilfeed.pdf.

Right now I'm giving them 2tsp of Tiger Bloom per gallon and 1 TBS of Big Bloom per gallon, every other watering. On the non-fert days I've been giving them 1 TBS of molasses per gallon and 1 tsp of epsom salt which I think I'm going to back off on now that I have the mag def under control.

From the pics, I see the leaves are sativa but if you take some shots from above looking down we can see the leaf structure better. Indica flower much quicker while sativa tend to take their sweet time. So not all plants will be ready at week 8 in bloom. To know for sure when to harvest check out the "A Beginner's Guide to Harvesting" posted on my blog for more details.

FF is awesome, I'm using them atm too for hydro.

Here is a picture from the top. You can definitely see the damage on the one plant from the magnesium deficiency. The one with the damage is a few days behind the one on the left as far as it's progress.

Great looking plant! It's really producing some great flowers that are sure to pack on mass in the next month.

I would say that's a hybrid not sativa dominant, in my opinion. Keep an eye on those trichs like you've been doing and definitely refer to that great link Twelve posted.

Does look like a deficiency going on there but nothing severe. What are you PH'ing your water at? I ask because it almost looks like a bit of nute lock-out to my novice eye. From what I see they are being fed plenty, possibly a little too much due to the slightly burnt tips of the leaves. The leaves that look good are a little too light in color possibly from a nitrogen lock-out. Then again they could be yellow due to later stage of flowering. And of course the spots you referred to due to lack of cal and or mag. It could be as simple as your PH being off.

Not knocking your grow at all, keep up the good work. It looks great! Keep us posted :goodjob:

Thanks for the info. I hauled these babies from the closet to the bathtub and gave them a good flush. There was quite a bit of yellow runoff so I glad I finally flushed them.

I was just looking at my plants again. Now i'm noticing a huge color change, from green to yellow and some brown spotting on the leaves just like the other one. So now they both look like they are having a magnesium def. The first one that started showing a mag def is starting to lose quite a bit of it's leaves. Should I be worried? I think I still have at least another 2 - 2 1/2 weeks until harvest. I checked the trichomes and I'm not seeing much change. Just a few cloudy and most of them are clear. How long does it usually take for the trichs to go from clear to cloudy and cloudy to amber?

They smell great though, especially since I flushed them yesterday.

Some leaves will fall during late bloom with nitrogen being used up. With the brown spots it could be cal/mag def, but if you continue to feed FF nutes and add some molasses should finish the girl with not much probs. The leaves will not recover because damage (1 tsp per gal) already made but will prevent the healthy leaves from hurting. Add some N and more PK to suits their hunger. Plants late in bloom can eat more. I think the FF has new feeding schedule with PPM to consider, a PPM digital pen is required.

I gave them another good flush today, just in case there were any leftover ferts in there. I'm giving it an estimated 1 week until harvest. I wonder how much the final weight is going to be. The anticipation is killing me!

... maybe a 1 1/2 weeks. It's hard to tell because the trichomes are developing at different rates on different parts of the plants. I'm on day 49 of flowering by the way. I plan to give them a few days of dark before harvest. They are also getting nothing but water now.

If you must harvest then chop one plant down while keeping the other one for an extra week. The trichomes will let you know when they are done. Check out this harvesting guide.

I'm going to make a wild guess on the dry weight. 5oz each plants. Good luck!

nah, i'm not going to chop anything early. I'll just wait until they are both done. If it takes longer than 1 or 1 1/2 weeks the so be it.
