4 x 4 layout: size and number of pots

I drew up various configurations of a 4 x 4 tent, using a pvc frame I'll build with scrog capability. After looking at the options in the photo, I like the idea of a 2 x 4 frame (option 3) with room to sit and store supplies, dehumidifier, etc. I have a weak back and bending is a real pain for me, so to sit and tend to my girls is important to me.

The current plan is a 3 month grow cycle, 1 600w HPS/MH, cocoa/perlite medium, drain to waste, fabric pots, flora series nutes.

My main question is this - I can't decide if the 2 x 4 space scrog is best for a few 5 gallon or a larger number of 3 gallon pots?

All my decisions have been pretty straight forward up to this, I need some forum experience here to guide me!

I run a similar set up except I don't push all the plants to one side. I run an adjustable trellis with one plant almost in each corner. You want them to have space so when they grow you can pull those branches down and they have room. What is the height on the tent? #2

Usually 3g but experimenting with a 7gal. My tent is 6.5ft and depending on the strains you might run out of headspace. I would flip a bucket over to add height to my girls so the colas would be almost eye level and I would run out of space do to my HID light. Just watch how long you veg for and know the plants and how they stretch. I have enough space after they are scrogged with the right arrangement I can get under the canopy kneeling. Sorry rambling. 7ft should do your back right.

So after trimming the bottom growth and vegging for a month you end up with the latter except a bit taller. I'm still getting used to it but you can get an even growth. These are old pics. Scrogging can take some getting used to and being patient. In the first pic I bunched them together for picture purposes but I keep them in the corners not fully hugging the walls because I have negative pressure in my tent. You can even throw one in the middle. You want to top or fim and then start training the branches a bit early. In the pics I waited way to long.

Makes sense. Maybe start with two 3 gallon pots in a 2 x 4 scrog for my first grow like the diagram, train them up and to the center, then depending on strain/yield/growth maybe do a third along the back side in subsequent cycles. Rucifer ROCKS thanks for sharing all this info!

Still haven't fully utilized the tent to it's potential but. In the past I was thinking about upgrading from my tent to a room. 10x10 9ft ceiling. I really enjoyed that you took the time to sketch out different set ups it's smart and shows you think ahead. Take care!:thumb:
