LINCOLN — Three Florida residents, including a mother and son, were arrested at a hotel Saturday night after a strong marijuana scent led authorities to find 20 pounds of the drug in the guests' hotel room, according to Lincoln police.
By Sunday, all three suspects, Abraham Saftchick, 30; his mother, Maria Saftchick, 59; and Christopher Hutchins, 29, had each posted $7,500 bail and were released from the Placer County jail, a jail supervisor said.
Their whereabouts and court dates were not immediately known.
According to a police statement, the three were arrested on suspicion of marijuana for sale after detectives found marijuana worth an estimated $100,000 processed and bagged in their hotel room. Detectives also reported finding $20,000 in cash.
Officers were first called to the Holiday Inn Express on Ferrari Ranch Road shortly before 7:40 p.m. Saturday after hotel staff reported "a strong odor of marijuana" coming from one of the guest rooms.
