2nd Outdoor Grow In Eastern Canada

You are more than welcome to top them sooner but I think you get better lower branching if you wait one more node. We have done both and you top one sooner than that when you flux.

Have a good night bud.

Are you saying to wait on the bigger one(I am going to wait until it gets full size with the five bladed leaves) or to wait on the smaller one as it is just now growing it's third set of leaves.(God I feel like a newb all over again). Sorry Nis just thought of something I have been meaning to ask you when can I do the second topping and what set of leaves is it done on? Right now is day 17 and 18 respectively. I made a mistake on the journal entry for today I will go back and edit. Thanks again.

Sunday June 18th day 59 of veg. Well it finally stopped raining so I gave the girls another feeding of nutes and I gave the two little autos a weaker feeding to see if I could give them a boost as they are progressing so slowly. It will help or it will give them nute burn one or the other. Does anybody have a suggested feeding of the General Hydroponics 3 part series and Calimagic for autos that are 12 and 13 days old? Thanks peeps have a great day. Here are some updated pics from a distance plus close ups of the auto's.

You my friend are going to have a very nice hedge before to long. 4 plants in that space would have been pushing the limits in my humble opinion but 6, that is going to be a solid hedge. They should be ok but you would get better yields per plant if you spread them out more.
How often are you feeding the hedge? They look beautiful! What is your plan for support? You using trellis netting or will you use stakes?
Last year I used netting but this year I am trying a few different methods,SCROG on one, screen on a couple and stakes on the rest.
Can not give you any advice on the autos, sorry, have a few auto beans but just have not gotten around to popping any yet.

Keep them happy and green. They look great so far.

When the bigger one has 5 blades, top them both. The smaller one isn't too far behind so it won't be an issue. As for topping a 2nd time with autos, that I have never done and wouldn't recommend. Now I haven't grow them outside before so they may get more veg time being under the sun. Who knows lol.

:thankyou:

Thanks for stopping by OlderGrower, and thanks for the advice. In the older bed there are 3 blue berry and two Tangerine dream and they stay relatively small. In that newer bed the first three farthest from the house are white widows and they dont get that big, as they are leftover seeds from last summer's grow? Next year 8 will be my limit I think. Later on I will be putting up narrow greenhouse frames and I will be putting a few wraps of garden twine around them at different levels to support the girls. Last year I used stakes and twine. The girls get nutes in a full gallon of water per plant every 3 days. Have a great night.

Sunday June 25th day 66 of veg for the photos and day 19 and 20 of veg for the Autos. Yesterday I did some final LST work that is the last for the autos. This morning the photos had a feeding of nutes and the autos received their nutes yesterday evening. Everything is going well except for one of the blueberry girls. The tops are all crinkly looking I have never seen this before and all the plant have received all the same treatments so I don't know what to think. If anyone knows what would be causing this feel free to chime in. You can see it in the close up pic.

When you said to wait until the one with five blades gets grown out then top it, did you mean for me to top that nod or just as soon as the next node appears to that one??

wrinkles could be a mosaics virus, are you familiar? Had this once caused a curling and wrinkles. just my 2 cents, check with others as well. happy growing!

Thanks pufpufpas, I will take a look at that, I have never heard of it but then again I have never seen this before neither.

What did you end up doing pufpufpas? Was it from clones or seeds.

In this picture, top the growth coming up in the center. This is when you do it. The other one isn't too far behind so I would take the top of that one at the same time.

The blueberry is not TMV. I can assure you of that. The leaf that is off to the left with yellowing and curled outwards, that is TMV. We had a couple leaves do that on our tut and they just get plucked off.

Hope this helps ya. The curling up of the edge of the leaves indicate that it is either heat or light stress. But the larger fan leaf next to it appears to not be effected. I have no outdoor experience so hopefully someone can lend ya a hand on that.

It was a bagseed. ..always find one now and then. I was thinking it was just a mutation or strange pheno at first. About half way through flower I learned of the virus. I ran it out and all was ok except it's looks were mutant. I destroyed every clone and threw out the seeds. Didn't seem to hurt yield or potency. I just felt any virus must be destroyed! Its a shame was one of the fastest and strongest plants I ever had. The structure was something I had been searching for for years. Now you got my brain spinning. I'm sure there is information on the subject somewhere around here. If I can find the time ...
I'm not making the diagnosis for you and the case I had was definitely way more pronounced. Its only a guess. heat stress can also make leaves do strange things. I'm rambling now but whatever it is I'm sure someone around here has the right answers

Tuesday June 27th day 68 of veg for the photos and day 21 and 22 of veg for the autos. One of the blueberry photos had something going on and had no idea what it was. All the tops were all wrinkly and dry looking and after asking around it appears that was a genetic mutation. So I cut all of the mutated tops off and will wait to see if the new growth is mutated. Not exactly sure if I made the cuts in the correct area to promote new growth or not so we will have to wait and see. Pics are of all the stuff that I cut off, the last pic shows the plant after trimming all the mutated tops. Thanks to all for your input on this you were a great help.

Subbed in hope that mutant grows normal now .I saw you posting about the wrinkles leaves I seen a few mutants recently they seem to be coming out In force

Thanks for stopping by Robbo94 glad to have you along. I hope that mutant grows the way it is supposed to now as well. Not sure if I cut at the proper places for topping as things were all over the place. Just wait and see I guess.

Wednesday June 28th day 69 of veg for the photos and day 22 and 23 of veg for the autos. The autos got a feeding of nutes and the Pineapple Punch got topped today she is coming along nicely but the little blueberry auto is a lot further behind even though she is only 2 days younger so I will wait a bit before I top her. Moved a bit of soil today to see where the auto seeds that are in the dirt are at, Cherry Bomb will be up in a day or two but the Sweet Mango is among the missing no sign of it anyplace. This is the second seed that has disappeared from that spot. I don’t know if spiders or ants could carry it off but I am getting tired of this shit. So I put a Pyramid Seeds Purple Auto in to soak 10 minutes ago hope fully this one will make it. The photos had a nice drink of nutes today as well so they are good for three days or so and they are looking and growing well. I will have some updated pics a little later today. Have a great day peeps.

Thursday June 29th and little baby Cherry Bomb Auto has arrived and Pyramid Seeds Purple Auto is in the paper towel. That’s it for today besides something dug in one of the raised beds last night but no damage done. However it was awfully close to the spot where seeds have been disappearing from. But the humid dome was always over the seeds and not disturbed so the digger was not the seed bandit, cheers.

Friday June 30th, I topped the Blueberry Auto today and it is doing well. The Pyramid Seeds Purple Auto went into the dirt today hopefully it will not disappear like the previous two did. We have name that spot in the raised bed “The Twilight Zone”. I do have a question about the baby Cherry Bomb Auto, she appeared yesterday, and was well this morning, it is sunny and 23 degrees here today and the cotyledons seem to be dying and not sticking out like they usually do. Will the plant still survive and produce more leaves? Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks and have a fantastic weekend.
