2 400 watts and 1 600 wat hps lights

I was wondering if the spacing between the tops of the plants and bulbs would be the same for the 2 400 watts and the one 600 watt. I was also reading about the spacing between the bulbs and the top of the plants but Theres too many sources with too many different answers so If I could get any input from any of you about this it would be greatly appreciated cause I gotta put 12 plants under these 3 lights.

I've grown with my 600w @ 12" away, as long as it's an coolable reflector and you're venting correctly you shouldn't have an issue.
