Hello all- First off, what an awesome group of individuals. I love to see the amount of help and support and engagement that comes from this site. Thank you all for taking the time to post from your experience and education in order to help out newcomers to this amazing hobby.

I recently received 20 seeds as a gift. I'm told they are Grape Ape, which I'm pretty excited about as I much prefer Indica dominant strains. After some pretty intense research, I built the following set up to get started with 2 plants on my first indoor grow:

3x3 @Mars Hydro tent
@Mars Hydro TSW 2000 light
AC Infinity Cloudlike T6 inline exhaust w/ filter
FF Happy Frog Soil, cut with 25% pearlite
FF Dirty Dozen Nutes + Cal/Mag
1gal and 5gal Vivo Sun cloth grow bags
Vivosun pH and TDS pen
Govee wifi hygrometer/thermometer
Programmable 1.4L humidifier
Clip on oscillating fans for circulation

I started by germinating four seeds hoping that all would be viable and that two (at least) would be female, as the person that gave them to me could not tell me if they were purchased as feminized seeds. I soaked for 24 hours, then transferred to peat pots for in- soil germination. Luckily I had a 100% success rate, so I started with four seedlings 14 days ago. I lightly watered daily at first with a spray bottle, paying attention to weight and moisture in the soil. 8 Days later I was able to see the third node sprouting at the top, and had pretty sturdy stems, so I transplanted to my one gallon grow pots and did a full strength feeding according to the Fox farms soil feeding schedule. This made me nervous, as everyone seems to say that with Happy frog you don't need to feed for 3 to 4 weeks, but it was a very small amount of nutrients, so I just followed the schedule and went with 6tsp of Big Bloom, 1tsp of boomerang, 1/2tsp of kangaroots, and 1/2 tsp of holy mackerel, mixed into 1 gallon of pH neutral rainwater. Had to pH up to 6.5, then watered amply, though not to run-off. Plants did not seem to experience any transplant shock so I'm pretty happy with that. 3 days later, water again with rainwater pH to 6.5, this time to run off. Checked PPM and run off and all plants were between 1900 and 2000. Avg 14 day temp is 78*, and RH at 61%. No real significant peaks or valleys to speak of there. Saw a bit of curling on the tips of the serrations early, so raised the light to 26 in and dialed back to about 75% on the dimmer, seems to have done the trick. The only thing I'm noticing right now is some slight curling on the first couple of sets of leaves, I'm thinking may be pH related, or possibly the early feeding. Overall I'm happy with the progress, no stretching, I have tight internodal spacing, and nothing has caught on fire...so far. More to come.

I realize it's a long first post lol, let's call it a 2 in one. I promise to keep them short and sweet and to the point in the future.

Thank you again to everyone that participates in this amazing forum, and I look forward to any and all feedback.

Morning Meezy (nearly 4:20 here!)
That’s a strong start (as is this OG Kush joint with critical purple kush rosin racing stripes).
Maybe all four might be girls, maybe you might find pollen straight away and add to your cache.
Nice that you’re starting with a favourite.
You’ve invested in a rig that should keep you in canna meds for years. Well done!
I’m not familiar with the products you are using. Is one of them a source of mycorrhizal fungi? You’ve been paying attention when you’ve been putting this together so I assume that one of them is.
I’m asking because the advantage we have as soil growers is that we don’t have to buffer our nutes. The medium does that for us.
You may want to do a side-by-side and see what happens if you feed unbuffered nutes to only one plant? Up to you. I’m lazy enough to jump on the ‘less is more’ wagon with this. I’m an advocate for keeping your hands in your pockets if possible.
Welcome to 420 Magazine, your new home away from home. You’re in the right place!

Howdy do
Awesome set up mate.. nice introductory write up too.
Oh!! Those AC infinity cloudlines are the dogs bollox.. mines on auto all the time and it only runs when you need it too..
Anyway.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next update

Meaning you don't buffer the ph of the water to the 6.2 to 6.5?

21 day update - FIMed today above the 5th node, was already seeing some awesome undergrowth so I can't wait to see how they take to the training. The one gallon pots are starting to feel pretty small. They are drying out almost completely in about 2 days. I added some additional dolomite lime to some FFHF and pearlite, soil was very acidic out of the bag. I will use that when I up pot to the final 5 gallon fabric grow pots. I hope to do that this week and get on to some LST. I am definitely learning a lot along the way, and really enjoying the process. Already looking forward to my next grow and all of the things I will do differently , and I'm barely 3 weeks into this one! I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem.

FIM and some nice undergrowth.

Will post once we go into the bigger pots and start to flatten them out. Have a great week!

Hi there :)

I like it when I can catch a grow from the beginning.

Your plants look really great!

I’m not much good when it comes to advice, but I’m an EXCELLENT cheerleader

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Fast forward 2 weeks and some change and we are all taking nicely to the 5 gallon pots. Plants are strong and needing some LST just about every other day. I had a pretty scary moment prior to the up pot. I had to travel for three days so I watered the day I left and came home to some VERY unhappy plants. I wasn't sure they would rebound. I gave them a good watering and sure enough, two days later they were back and I'd swear stronger than ever. What a testament to how resilient these plants really are. I had some minor leaf damage on the lower parts of the plants, so i took that as an opportunity to do some light defoliation over a couple of days so as not to stress them too much. I added some Great White to the transplant holes for the up pot and they just didn't really skip a beat. I have 3 females for sure, and I think 1 male, but going to give it a few more days just to be certain. I'm also adding in some purpinator to my feedings, hoping to get some good color once we go to flower. I plan to flip to 12/12 somewhere around the 15th to give them a solid 6 weeks of veg and hopefully fill out the tent with 3 plants. Anyway, a group shot for the progress report. Pretty sure the bottom right is a male.

A good picture of one calyx. No pistils just yet.

And another one.

Looking forward to flipping the switch on these gals and seeing what they are going to do in the next phase. I'd love any feedback and thanks for checking them out!

What a difference a couple of days can make!

Canopy is staying pretty even and lots of growth daily. This afternoon I noticed some clawing on all of the plants, though maybe on 10% of the leaves, and just at the very tips.

I also saw a couple of leaves on just one of the plants with some brown spots in between the ribs.

With the clawing and the spots, am I looking at N tox? In week 5 of veg. Leaves are dark but don't seem too dark or leathery at all. There are a few tips showing some brown as well. I'm still watering with pH neutral rainwater, that after mixing FF nutes reads 6.3 to 6.5. Adding FF calmag per bottle direction and also on last water added purpinator at 3ml per gallon. TIA for any feedback!
