More than 18,000 pot plants have been found in a pair of sophisticated marijuana growing operations in remote areas of a California forest.
Authorities said Wednesday that the marijuana could have fetched $37 million.
The crop was uprooted this week in a Santa Barbara County section of Los Padres National Forest.
Sheriff's deputies, U.S. Forest Service employees and members of a federal task force seized 9,652 pot plants in the San Antonio Canyon Creek area and 8,726 plants in the Romero Canyon area above Montecito.
The Ventura County Star says authorities also hauled out about 1,000 pounds of fertilizers, chemicals and trash left by the growers.
