13 Days Into Flower And No Flowers Or Even Preflowers?

Burmese Kush (OG Kush hybrid to flower more quickly and grow shorter)

Indica dominant

5 gallon pots with Vermifire soil

6 sq ft tent

2 - Agro Max Pro 150 actual watt LEDs (300 watts total)

Plants were 22 days from seed when switched to 12/12 from 18/6

Plants are now 35 days from seed, 13 days in flower.

I still have almost no alternating nodes.

All nodes have had white hair like things growing from them, which have always ended up being more leaves.

I feel like they are growing more at this point that at any other point in the grow...

The plants are completely filling the tent and are over 20" tall.

Still no signs of preflowers or flowers...

The grow tent is in its own room, so I know it is 100% dark for 12 hours.

Temps are at 82' and humidity is at 65%. I know those are high, but to restrict even preflowers...

I have used Dyna-gro Bloom with the past 2 waterings (once a week).

My thoughts:

Too much nitrogen from the Vermifire soil. Possibly flush with no nutes for a week or 2?

They were never mature enough? I find that hard to believe as people SOG all the time...

I am considering switching them back to 18/6, topping, cropping, training for 2 weeks, then flipping back.

I have only done minor pruning up until this point, as it is my first grow and I want to see the natural growth of the plants.

I also heard switching to a 10/14 light cycle...

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I always thought the alternating nodes grow on the main stem, but this is a side shoot if a side branch...

Do you use a digital timer? Sometimes they can cause the lights to flicker in darkness. I agree before I saw the pics I thought you were just in stretch but I don't see any super pistillate growth at the Apex growth and in two weeks with a kush plant...something is happening. 30 days is a bit young to flip but I agree that they still should be showing something by now. Stay in the dark room for 10-15 minutes to acclimate your eyes and then open the tent and see if your light flickers.

And don't take offense at this next question I just want to get it out of the way. No one is going in there with any light during the dark period right? I am often surprised by how many people that do so I just wanted to get that out of the way.

Where did the seeds come from? A friend? Or a seedbank?

No one goes in the bedroom except me, and I only go in between 6am and 6pm, when the lights turn on and off.

The window area is sealed with foam to prevent light escaping or entering.

Plus its a closed tent in a room.

I am using a mechanical timer and doubt there is any flickering. The fans do not have any lights. But I'll double check.

The seeds are from Attitude. Shipped very discretely and seeded fine and healthy.

Just a thought, but typically when in veg, plants don't mature and therefore don't show sex until about 6-7 weeks old. Considering this, it stands to reason that they won't start to flower under 12/12 until a similar age.

Usually you do this with clones. Even though they are small, clones are as old as the mother plant.

So at this point would flipping back to 18/6 cause the preflowers to emerge more quickly than leaving it in 12/12?

The plants are 5 weeks old.

Sea of Green is smaller plants, using smaller pots. Pot size will limit plant size. The other thing to consider is clones. Clones are the same age as the plant the were cut from, so a 4 inch clone can be put straight into flower so long as the plant it was cut from was mature.

Photo strains will only start to flower once they are mature enough to do so, and some strains mature faster than others. My THC Bomb plants usually are mature enough to show sex by day 42 and could be flowered any time after this. Even then, it will usually be 2 weeks after being out into 12/12 before you really see proper flowers developing.

Looking at your times and pictures, I would say you are likely to see pre-flowers develop in the next week or so, and then 2 weeks later see proper flowers developing

Last night I kept the lights on for 18 hours, thus switching to 18 / 6.

I also FIM'd one top, Topped one, Supercropped a few sides on the 3rd, and and LST'd all of them a bit.

Now today I went to water with clean water to flush the Bloom nutes out....

And now I see 2 white hairs on many of the nodes....

Never any preflowers, very few alternating nodes (I cut most of those because they were skinny new growth..)

Now I am up in the air.. Do I continue 18/6 for a week then switch back to 12/12?

Should I just switch back now?

Did I just lose my main colas?

I cannot focus my camera enough to show a pic, but I'll try...

Are the 2 white hairs on each side of the node preflower or actual flower?

Those are female preflowers, but it means flowering is about to start for you. If you continue under 18/6 it will confuse the plant and cause stress. Then it will take even more time to get back into flower, and you may even cause a plant to hermie. Keep it 12/12.

Back to 12/12. Getting more preflowers / white hairs.

Lookin' good. The pistils start with the highest future bud sites and maybe the node or 2 below.

Hoping for 100% pistils by tomorrow. Right now maybe one side has the hairs but the other side of the node does not, or just the upper node has then but not the lower...

I think these are now flowers. Again, its hard for me to tell if all those white hairs are new leaves forming or flowers. First timer.

The white hairs are pistils from the female flowers. You are in flowering legit as of today! Congrats!

The seeds said they need 7 weeks, or 49 days, for flower. Do I start counting from today?
