I have what I call my mystery bag o seeds they are all the same strain its called "POT" I am guessing your strain is called Hooch? wasnt life simpler when ya just asked your dealer for a bag of weed ? might have been simpler but the weed was nothing like we have today and just for that I will live with names like "Purple Alaskan Thunderfuck"

Im starting to think of long term super soil have you ever tried those 5 lb bags od natures living soil you take 1 lb of thier premix add enough soil to fill your pot 1/3 then top off with soil they have them on the ZON for right under 50 bucks ?

Yeah bag seed however there’s a story to it. My MIL purchased some good seeds a couple years ago. Some of the fancy names stuff like Buddha Tahoe, SFV, blah blah blah. I myself am like you and really just prefer a good sativa or a good indica, I don’t need all the crazy named stuff. Of course that’s where the good stuff comes from but it is annoying lol.
I’m not positive how the seeds came to be.
While she was growing there were a few issues. First, there was a neighbor a couple houses over that let a male plant grow during the season and like an ass he never cut it down to be spiteful. There was also some light poisoning that occurred during her grow. So either the male pollinated some of the plants or they Hermed, but when we went to harvest there was quite a few seeds. I grabbed a handful of them knowing I was gonna give it a go myself. I’m stingy/cheap so I didn’t want to spend money on seeds while dialing in my indoor environment so I went with the seeds. They’ve turned out really well so far.
Yeah 3 gallon pots. When I made up the pots I put in layers of extra fertilizers/EWC and spikes of extra EWC/Compost. I’ve also top dressed fish bone meal 3 times during the first 5 weeks. Nothing too crazy but because it’s a 3 gallon I knew it was gonna need some oomph to be able to finish.

I haven’t tried them but I’ve had my eye on them. The LOS gets stronger and more efficient with every use and a big part of its power comes from other amendments so just a decent soil is all you really need.

I have my tent in the family room and trust me I hear about that 2-3 times a week (good thing she smokes a lot of pot) I wanna fill up a kiddie pool with SS and just keep it in my tent. I can forsee a lot of problems with that plan so I need to find the best way use SS in a confined area. I need to find an affordable way to grow 100% real organic and it doesnt matter how much you play with O -R - G- N - A - N - I - C YOU CANT GET CHEAP ANYTHING

Life’s a bitch like that, she really likes to kick you when you’re down already. Life also demands that we put our family first so you roll with what you’ve got. Genetically I’m a country person. My dad, grandfather, great grandfather, blah blah blah were all woodsmen, ranchers and farmers. My Mother spent her life running from my dad and that life so I ended up a city/suburb person. It affects my mental health pretty heavily, I’m meant to be outside in open spaces. I feel my best when I’m in the middle of nowhere.
We’re trying to make our way out to the country but every time we get close life happens. By the time I had a handle on PTSD and shit my MIL got sick so we’re still here. We’ll get there one day.
I don’t have a lot of space myself so I use a lot of rubber made bins and stuff to keep organized. @StoneOtter uses those large rubber/plastic trash cans and works his LOS magic in a basement. Organics takes some investment to get going but once you’re going and got everything it gets real cheap. The worm farm will eventually get you to a point where all you gotta do is buy some bulk meals, feed it to em, and you’re all set, nothing else but some used soil and coco is needed. There’s a lot of different ways to get to the end point but they all cost time, money, and a little space.

Keep at it! It takes more will than anything as long as you don't mind crowded places. It's not comfortable to have people in my grow space, hehe, me included! As long as I get it done I'm happy!
After the initial purchase of all the amendments you decide to use it's almost free from there. Replacing them come dribs and drabs so it doesn't break the bank.

I got a question for you and/or @StoneOtter . you both are established with your soil Keffka you had talked to me about worm beds Im trying to put this all together what ever recipe I use where does composting come into play? Im 2 grows away from using my own LOS (I have soil already. would it beneficial for me to compost? I can get a 40 gal barrel on spit (well it looks like a spit) let me see if I understand this when I mix my soil I want to add my compost to it? what are the steps of making your own LOS other than mixing your ingredients
I feel im missing something is there more than mixing your mix and letting it cook for 30 - 90 days ok lets say I went shopping for the stuff to make subcools recipe what would my next step be?
The "Rev soil" I use doesn't use compost. It does use worm castings. I want to say they would be interchangeable in a soil recipe, or a mix may be in order. Maybe Keffka knows more on that?
I've kind of strictly kept to his recipe and with that I haven't had to learn on my own. Makes me limited until I get a question like this! This is good!

Your next step after getting your ingredients is to mix them together in the correct ratios and let them cook (aka compost) for 30-90 days depending on temperatures. It’s that easy. The only “overwhelming” aspect of organics is getting the correct ingredients together in their ratios. It seems like a lot for people who haven’t grown much of anything but if you’ve ever grown plants before you’re likely already familiar with a lot of the stuff. It’s when you’ve never heard of the different ingredients that it seems complex.
As far as literal compost goes, there’s a place for it in some grows. You can mix it right into your mix, or you can put it in layers in your pots. For instance this grow I mixed in 1 part compost as well as putting a layer of it down in the bottom of my pot. Composts main attraction is the life it brings. Microbes and beneficial bugs are its big selling point. It can provide “some” carbon to your grow but it’s not enough and shouldn’t be viewed as a good carbon source for our purposes. Compost should be viewed as something you use to boost your microbe life, like icing on a cake. You don’t need it, and you won’t fail without it, but it is beneficial.
EWC and coco are where you’re gonna get your good carbon and nutrient boosts from. Coco is perfect microbe food. We use coco differently than coco growers do. We don’t care about it for any reason other than the wonderful carbon it supplies to our microbes. There’s more to it than that but that’s the nitty gritty of it.
You would be better off starting a worm farm before you start composting. You can feed all of your amendments to your worms and they will bind them up into a nice little package with an extra carbon molecule. You can also feed your plants, stems and all to the worms and they will consume those as well and provide you with the nutrients from within them.
If you’re set on composting then that’s cool too just remember our main use for it is to provide life to our mixes.

He’s where I first learned about a lot of stuff that just isn’t general knowledge, as well as a lot of information that has been actively suppressed by Big Fertilizer. Such as the importance and wonder of carbon in our grows. So many people believe they have nutrient deficiencies because that’s what we’ve been taught, when in reality, it’s carbon that they’re lacking. However if information like that were to get out and go mainstream there wouldn’t be much need for fertilizers nor the wars we fight to secure the dwindling nutrients they insist we need.

Some will argue that compost has lots of carbon in it, and it does, sort of, but its been turned into humus, and the carbon in humus is very slow release. A report I read the other day stated the half life of composted carbon is 15-17 years and it takes 100 years to fully be consumed, so thats no good for annuals.
Humus on the other hand is very beneficial for a boat load of reasons, so having it is a huge bonus, just don't consider it to be a carbon source.
Plants dont use soil carbon, they pull carbon from the air, but microbes require a lot of carbon, and they only like to eat it once.
