Ok, I just gotta ask. Does it taste like chocolate? Smell like chocolate? Quack like chocolate? Therefore chocolate? I am up waaaaay past my bedtime so may have just a foggy notion about what I read so far. These girls of yours are deliberately NOT skunky, am I right so far? Is the fact that they are This mean they have a special function beyond taste or smell? That is, are they they good medically for pain, anxiety, appetite? I have a zillion more questionzzzz. 😴 zzz

The terpene profile that it has is: cigar tobacco/cardboard/with hints of fall spices like cloves and pumpkin spices and hints of chocolate. No skunkyness, no "dank" or weed smell at all. It probably the most unique strain I have ever grown or smoked. The high is completely uplifting, makes you feel like the perfect day, clearheaded, energetic, but the high also comes on in waves and each wave is stronger and stronger until you almost start questioning how much higher you will get because its that strong. Definitely a very good feel good strain.

WOW! :woohoo: Honestly, I feel like COMPLETE newb again! In 2014 I talked to a dude about flavor. I think I might have somehow gotten screwed up with my memory of that. 👵

Would this taste the same in edibles?

Chocolate This sounds awesome exactly what the doctor would order for me.

Does the strength stay consistent with every generation? And is there a hip cool way to ask that question? One other big one I ask because I have a tendency to paranoia if I go overboard. Are there strains that deal with that? Or is that just a matter of personal restraint? I understand that the Stavia vs ummm, whatcha macallit, the this for head and this for body ideas is in controversy. Like an old wives tale. Is that any where near correct?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions! :peace2:

Can't really answer on the edibles because there are literally hundreds of different types of edibles made with all different forms of cannabis extract... and each form of extract has different ways of processing it... such as... if made with canna butter the terpenes may taste different than if made with distillate. I've never made edibles with the Chocolate thai so hard to say but generally butter I have made in the past just takes on a kind of general "weed" taste and depending on what its blended with, and how much is used really could either mask the "weed flavor" or it can be detected in larger amounts. Really hard to say but generally I would say the terpenes are not so much the main influence when used in edibles.

Strength is really independent in each genotype, just like humans, each one is completely different "rolls of the genetic dice" such as 2 parents may have 3 kids and each kid is completely different looking, with different personalities and such... plants are no different really and each plant (even if the same strain) is a "roll of the genetic dice" so this means terpenes, levels, cannabinoids and the ratios, growth traits all can change with each plant and each generation. If you took 10 seeds from the same mother, and planted all of them, each plant would be different in strength, chemotype, genotype, and phenotype and the environment they are grown in will also influence this. You could take a mother plant and take 3 clones, grow one in the desert, one near the ocean, and one in the mountains and although they are 100% genetically the same, the environment they are grown in would influence the height, structure, terpenes and ratios, cannabinoids and ratios etc...

As you selectively breed plants for desired traits you can "lock in" these desired traits with each generation, so the progeny will generally have higher percentage of probability of having those desired traits... and if done correctly, about 7 to 9 generations you could have seeds that all grow plants that are very very close to each other and would exhibit the traits they were bred for... But even so, some may have slightly different potencies or ratios of terpenes than others.

I honestly can't answer the paranoia question because like I said above each plant is different (even if the same strain) and while generally they will be similar, each human cannabis user is also different and one strain can effect 1 person differently than another person. For instance, the strain green crack really gives me bad anxiety where I don't feel comfortable at all smoking it... other people absolutely love that strain so its really hard to say.

🤔Nature vs nurture. I hear what you are saying and it actually rings a very deep bell in me. Thanks for twisting a screw a little tighter in my brain. It was tripping down the path towards consistent, rigid conformity. Like red delicious apples or Tylenol or canned corn. :nerd-with-glasses:
Thanks for being up front about not knowing about taste in edibles. Our lovely herb sucks as a flavor. My keen instincts and infallible insights (rummaging through my purse for insights) are pushing toward oils and tinctures for edibles.
And I appreciate the insight reinforcing us as humans reacting differently to the same strain. ((((Hugs)))) thanks 🙏 so much for your time. I have a bunch of stuff to chew on...

Its hard to say what the future holds for cannabis in terms of conformity and consistency..... Will it ever get to the point like other common crops like corn, apples or table grapes... I don't know... The big pharma and medical crowd really would like to see this happen because you can't really formulate a medicine from inconsistent plants. (at least the type of medicine they could truly market, patent and put into your local pharmacy)... but their eyes are already on that being the end game.. believe me, I worked along side of them and they spoke with dollar signs in their eyes from figuring out how to create isogenetic plants.

Cannabis though, is far from from that point because the genome would need to be better understood and sequenced many times over to understand the genetic combinations they can use to achieve their goals and the amount of money that it would take, and time for research would probably be 10 years out minimum and many billions of dollars.

I think the struggle for big pharma to do this is, the fact that the average cannabis user/consumer doesn't care about a perfectly formulated cannabis pill, as we desire the different strains, terpenes, combinations of cannabinoids and the pure enjoyment of trying each strain. Also researchers in Israel and Spain already are working on GMO modifying yeasts and other bacterias to produce cannabinoids which would be faster, cheaper and more accurate on developing particular medicines from cannabinoids, so I find it unlikely they will spend the money to cultivate cannabis for cannabinoids if they can instead just do it with a tank of algae or mold.

Time and method also to produce isogenetic or true breeding plants with cannabis has yet to be proven or accomplished as far as I have seen. To do this, we would have to fully understand the cannabis genome and use genetic markers with selective breeding programs which would eventually bring strains to a 99% consistency level in 4 to 5 generations of breeding but we are also really far from that happening. I mean even if you look at the average table grape.. the grapes we eat now, the breeding programs to achieve that success take anywhere from 10-20+ years to breed true, and we have been cultivating grapes on a commercial scale much much longer than cannabis. There are other ways using certain chemicals to achieve true breeding plants as well, I can't go into detail because of NDA's and such I signed, but there are ways with other plants that this can be done quickly, but it has yet to be proven on cannabis, and doesn't work with every plant species.

So I think it will be a long long time before, and even if, we ever get to a point where we have actual true breeding isogenetic strains... I mean even the hemp industry which is fully legal now, still doesn't have consistancy in seed form yet and hemp has been large scale cultivated for quite some time now globally.

As far as edibles and flavor, yea pretty much all the edibles I've ever made, and/or eaten all generally have just a "weed flavor". I've never really had edibles that taste like a specific flavor. I think really the ideal edibles would either use distillate which is pretty much pure THC oil with no terpenes, or they may find a way to use something like fractional distillation to remove the terpenes, which then after the THC oil is purified can be added back as a flavor agent later. This is currently done with extracts in the commercial market but I really haven't seen it done with edibles (for the sake of flavor) yet.

Can't figure out how to do a 💕or a 🙏 in the reaction "like" place here. Not looking for a lesson on that right now. Oh crap...sorry about the bold face type. It's so distracting to my train of thought. Dangnabbit, be back in a few...
