I never topped her. I pinched the main stem two nodes down from the top and held the top down 90 degrees with clips, adjusting them as she grew. I then clipped the upper branches at 90 degrees and cliped the lower stems to the main stem going straight up. all when she was 2-3 weeks in veg. over a period of a week being a bit careful not to break the branches. I ended up with a pretty even canopy with twenty tops total.
