What is better for growing auto's a 400w m/h or a 400w hps

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice thanks.

Mh is for veg state and hps is for flowering is it not? How many plants you got? That really depends on the wattage doesn't it? I'm having the same sort of issue, aiming to do two plants and I'm near sure a 150w hps woul work for flowering state and was gonna try 150 or 200w mh lights depending where my research takes me but I think if you have a 400w like that would cover like 6/7 plants? Honestly I'm a noob and have never even grew before jut going off what I've been reading as I'm about to try myself

Or the more I read over this I think your saying that auto seeds can be flowered with mh? I'm gonna use autos so if you can let me know, sweet haha

I've done a few crops, using HPS from start to finish, with very good results. I'm assuming that you're growing from seed, so just germinate your seeds, put them under your light(s) and they'll take off in about ten-days. Just remember to be VERY CAREFUL about sexing your plants. I've seen male autos that have managed to develop and blow their pollen in less than twenty-four hours, so you really want to stay on top of this. Inspect the seedlings at least twice a day and when you see a male, cull that critter out immediately. Get it completely out of your grow space. If your goal is two plants, I'd germinate about six seeds, just to be sure that the law of averages for male and female are working in your favor. Autos are very forgiving, so you should be fine. Just determine which of your seedlings are female, give them a little TLC, and they'll pretty much take care of themselves.

I see I see and how do you get them to flower just up the wattage for the heat? Also I think I'm gonna buy a hydroponic system to do me a few favours. How will I be able to tell the male seeds from the females? I'll google all this like but just would like some first hand experience Yano haha, thanks btw.
