Gonna get off my ass, finally. - Setting up the new closet

Okay, sorta decided that when I get the closet up and running, I wanna do a 12/12 from seed, starting with 9-12 plants in SOLO cups to start, then onto one-gallon pots, so they fit in there. Now, from 12 seeds, gonna assume 6 are males. So that'll leave 6. No topping, no LST, just straight up bud, hopefully like in pics I've seen over at No-Mercy's thread. If it goes well, I want to go with a 2 or 3 L hempy SOG/SCROG after all that, but still learning to walk here, right? But anywho, once the closet gets going, and current grow is finished, I plan to get a few autos to play around with in the cabinet, and maybe even in the local swamps.

It's not finished yet, but soon! Got power run to the closet today, off a 20A breaker. That squirrel cage exhaust fan only draws 10.5 watts, each CFL bulb runs 23 watts, and there'll be 12 bulbs, little fan runs 15 watts, I have another fan I'm going to set up for intake, it draws only 12 watts. That's only 2.6A. I plan to get four single-tube 4' flouros, one for each corner. The board with the holes in it, in the picture, is going to go out the door. Replacing it with plastic lattice, and a dozen sockets screwed to it. Can fit two of the metal trays on the bottom. The cabinet could only fit one.

Just though, the top portion, where the exhaust goes to above the grow area, I could use it for clones, as long as it doesn't get too hot. Could simply toss a flouro in there. Warmth for the rooting beauties would be good.

I need to modify the squirrel cage fan a bit, or at least how it's mounted. The duct tape keeps blocking airflow when it unsticks itself (cheap duct tape, I know). If I can find some sheet metal, a rivet gun, some tin snips, and some sealant, it'll be airtight and free-flowing.

I think I need to set myself a few goals:

1) Have enough cannabis to last me between grows. That means between 2-3 months worth of pot. At a quarter or so a week, that's approximately an ounce a month. So, 2-3 ounces per grow is the number to shoot for. Since I've been getting less than a half ounce off each plant so far, I'll have to grow at least 6 plants if I don't do anything else differently (which I need to do)

2) Clean clean clean...The easy(ish) goal. I had pests last grow, and lots of em. Spider mites, specifically. I think cleaning my grow area would have at most, eliminated this problem, and at the very least simply been a better, happier grow environment for these gals to live in. These girls may be tough and resilient, but they've got a sensitive side we all know about, as well.

3) STOP TELLING PEOPLE I'M GROWING! Self-explanatory. Pride goeth before the fall.

4) Try new methods: SCROG, etc....to hopefully get bigger yields with my limited lights.

5) Invest in the grow(s): Stop being stingy, and get some proper nutes, soil, etc.

Started 8 seeds in SOLO cups outside in some bovine manure compost, a .05 .05 .05. Watered the cups, and put a sheet of glass over them to keep additional rain out. Raining a lot lately, with the Tropics the way they are this year. Still working on ventilation options for the closet. May go with a different fan, attached to the door, with a vent grate on the outside of the door. Or somewhere else. I do have lots of ductwork left over from when I tore out my RV's furnace. Really, that means I do not even have to put the fan in the closet.

I think best when it's on paper, out loud, or in this case, on screen, hehehe.

On another note, need to find something for supper that takes about a quarter cup of special olive oil. Thinking Medicaterannean food, with fish and capers and all that good stuff.

Pizza's out the question, ain't got a oven big enough, though I do have raw ingredients to make dough and stuff. Could make a square pizza that fits into my oven.....Hmmmm, nom nom nom.

Got the munchies, and I haven't even toked today yet! lol. May be the brownies from last night, hahaha

Got seedlings! 2/8 broken soil, when I checked on em this morning. Also, 2/4 Sunflowers sprouted. A little late in the year for Helianthus, but maybe I'll stick one in the closet. All seeds in the cups in the photo were sown at the same time, about 3 days ago. Eight cannabis, and four Helianthus (sunflower). The sunflowers I'll follow in a non-420 garden thread, if I have the energy, lol.

I changed the fan today, to a propeller-like fan (from a fridge this time), sealed up the rectangular hole, cut a circular one, and now have a fan mounted above the closet shelf, drawing air through the circle hole that goes to the cabinet. I'll take a pic tomorrow if my batteries are good. I guess I could start a journal soon, since I'm getting so close to getting the girlies in the closet. Still, only 2/8 sprouted so far.
