I think the wattage and type really depends on your specific situation (i.e. size of room and number of plants).

Personally I use the same 150watt HPS unit for veggie and flower. Although I'm only growing two plants in a smaller space at one time.

As long as your plants aren't stretching for light and you are getting good bud formation/quality then I'd keep doing what you are using. If you think it's over kill then try backing down to lower wattage bulbs. With less wattage you will have lower energy bills and less heat build up to deal with.
