Why is society so close minded? Please give your opinions.It helps me to understand.

Why cant people just let it be. I just wana live my life. I dont cause any harm to others yet they ruin my life by labaling me a criminal because i smoke weed and enjoy chillin with my people. The only reason people think its wrong is because society is trained to think that way by false propaganda. Thousands of people die every year do to tobacco and alchohol, yet it is sold legally in stores. Marijuana actually has healling properties and is much safer than alchohol and tobacco. I just dont get it. I am facing prison time because of marijuana. I will be sharing living space with murderers, rapist, and thiefs. How is that right? Im only 25 and if convicted i wont be out till im about 30. Just for weed! The judicial system needs an overhall.(along with several other aspects of are government). If people could actually open there minds and research the FACTS (not the government issued "facts") then they would see how harmless marijuana actually is.
