Researchers at the University of Connecticut have found that the plant known as Cannabis sativa, also known as industrial hemp, has properties that make it feasible and even attractive as a raw material, for producing biodiesel – sustainable diesel fuel made from renewable plant source.The fact that hemp does not need to have land cleared to grow it, grows faster than any of the crops currently used and leaves the ground in a better state when it is harvested should surely be enough for it to be considered a perfect crop to offset the pollution currently produced by carbon fuels and by the less efficient biofuels currently being so severely criticized by the many official research bodies.
A high-ranking Biodiesel magazine reported last year on the harvesting of hemp as a biofuel also could only point to its lack of economic commerce (due to its lack of production) as a reason for not seeing it as a sustainable biofuel. But surely if it was mass-produced, this one drawback could be overcome and its many benefits as a dexterous biofuel could be harnessed.
If someone is already growing hemp, they might be able to produce enough fuel to power their whole farm with the hemp seed oil they can produce. The fact that a hemp industry already exists means that a hemp biodiesel industry would need little additional speculation.
In the addition to high unemployment, higher government waste and even higher profits for big business on the foreign territory. Well, it seems to be making people angry.
