Water need for DWC

I'm trying to understand the watering cyclical for a DWC at different stages of growth.
Right now the plant is 5-6 inches, the DWC is running on a cyclical of 30min. on then 3 hrs off.
Does this cyclical change how often i need to change out the water?
Is this right for the size of the plant?
How should this change as it gets bigger?
What are the needs when it gets into the flowering stage?

So I found the answer and i'm leaving it in case anyone else need to know.
only have water while lights are on then...
while the plaint is under 10-12in. the cycle so 1hr on, 2 hr off. after that water runs while lights are on.
