I think at some point, I'm going to try using small stakes and pot/cup turning in the window to try and train a plant into a spiral without having to use ties to do the intial pulling down.

You should always turn potted plants 1/4 turn a day it builds the stalk awesome style (to me anyways) it also encourages LST tie downs to spiral and create hefty stalks on branches

I actually turn everything I grow , you should see how petunias explode turning them.
