Vaping with a drip atomizer - The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Okay so after I make some shatter I will definitely post a thread tutorial on cannabis ejuice. PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerine), are normal components of ecig juice and are usually vaped in ratios depending on the type of vape you want. PG is thin and provides throat hit, that feeling on the back of your throat. It is hygroscopic and that is what gives the throat hit(dries back of your throat). It also provides the best flavor carrier as well. Some small amount of people have allergies to PG. it is what is used in fog machines at rock concerts.
VG is thicker and sweeter and less of a flavor carrier. It does produce more visible vape. It is naturally sweeter than PG. when making ecig juices you can do all VG but it will taste less than the PG version.
When making ecig juice I like to use a 80VG/20PG ratio. This carries flavor and makes good vape.

Now with cannabis you can not just use PG and VG. The concentrate separates leaving a layer of cannabis extract on top and the PG/VG on bottom. So we look for something to keep the canna extract emulsified. That substance is PEG polyethylene glycol. So for cannabis extract I use a premade mix called EJMIX. It is readily available and easy to use. I dissolve the shatter into the Ejmix and the suck it up into a blunt needle syringe. This makes it very easy to use. I do not decarboxylate the extract. The vaping temperature is plenty high enough to do that. If you decarboxylate the Ejmix/shatter you will lose all volatile terpenes and end up with a less tasty product for no reason.

The Ejmix can be used in disposable tanks or regular tanks in vape pens. I do not recommend this. It is convenient to do so and I have done it in the past but my shatter is precious. My golden Ejmix is too precious for tanks and this is why:

In a tank the fluid in the tank becomes heated and the terpenes evaporate. The quality of the vape also degrades. What you get in the beginning is much better than the cooked extract that develops during tank use. This is why I use a dripping atomizer with a silica wick and nichrome 80 coil. Nichrome 80 is 80%nickel 20% chromium and has no iron in it like nichrome 60 or kanthal which are two metals used for vape coils. I get a metal taste from anything with iron. The nichrome 80 has a side benefit of turning cherry at a lower temperature than the other two metals. So we get a cooler vape which is a real plus for me.

So like I said before I drop the extract onto the silica wick with the syringe. Then vape all the concentrate. Before I add new concentrate I vape what is there then give a good pulse of dry wick in order to get rid of any residue. Then I add more to the wick and vape again. With a tank you can't clean the wick while the tank is full. So it gets cruddier and cruddier until it is empty. Trust me there is no way to avoid that or make it not happen. People will say it works and it does. I have done it that way for sure. But I got sad seeing the end of the tank degrade in quality.

My shatter is more valuable than that. Using a drip atomizer is not even tedious. It is very easy and will give 3-4 monster hits. If I wanted to go somewhere and vape extract I would just preload my RDA with a good amount of extract. A quick pulse will get the extract to suck into the wick and it will stay there until needed. A small needle tipped 10ml bottle can be carried with ease and it takes all of 10 seconds to reload the vape. If I am by myself one wick full is more than more than enough to get me obliterated lol. Expect a thread with pictorial and FAQ to come very soon and I will make a post and link it here.
