A few of you were interested in the massage oil recipe that Ms Stank made for me recently. She got the recipe from a member on here named Magnus8, so all the credit goes to him. Repeat...we didn't create this.....we recreated it. We followed his recipe to the 'T' except for the amount of cannabis we used. We only used one ounce (and a few extra grams) instead of the two he calls for because we weren't sure if we were going to like an oil instead of a lotion so we didn't want use that much cannabis if we weren't positive it was for us. Having said that, I am extremely pleased with the results using roughly 50% of the called for amount.
Now I used the Magic Butter Machine 2 to make the oil so we have to use at least 2 cups of oil. So I will give the %'s for each type of oil as well as the actual amounts for a 2 cup batch of oil (which is a large batch for my use).
35% Pumpkin Seed Oil (5.6 ounces)
25% Rice bran Oil (4 ounces)
10% Fractionated Coconut Oil (1.6 ounces)
10% Grape Seed Oil (1.6 ounces)
10% Hazelnut Oil (1.6 ounces)
10% Sweet Almond Oil (1.6 ounces)
Mix all the oil into your Magic Butter Machine (or crockpot). Add between 1 ounce (28 grams) and 3 ounces (84 grams) of decarbed bud. (We went with 1 ounce and I am not sure I would use more than that for a batch this size, I can always apply a heavier amount of oil if needed). We ran our oil on the 190 degree setting for 8 hours (I would probably try dropping the temp to 160 next batch to see if there is a difference). Strain the oil through coffee filters for a better strain but be warned, it takes a while but eliminates the plant matter all together.
Now according to Magnus, the pumpkin seed oil is the key to the rapid absorption and such fast relief. You could probably substitute some other type of oil for it but you might be losing the key to the whole thing. No I haven't tried it with anything else to compare it to but I can attest to how quickly it is absorbed and relief is provided. Having said this....the pumpkin seed oil is dark and makes your whole batch dark. Use caution with the darker oil if you have light skin or wear light clothing. The oil does smell strongly of cannabis so its not something you want to apply if stealth is needed or you are leaving your house for important tasks.
You can add essential oils to help with the smell a little bit. Magnus recommends peppermint and tea tree essential oils. We added 15 of each, but I would recommend trying a few more for a 16 oz batch. We added the essential oils after we cooked the oil in the MBM2.
If you are using a crockpot to make this, Magnus cooks his for 18 hours on low setting.
I can't compare this to any other recipe......so this will be our baseline to compare to going forward. Ms Stank wants to work on a lotion now. Good thing she is starting to grow or else she is going to go through me stash before I know it!
