a 400 watt dimable ballast would light a 4'x4" area, a 600 watt dimable ballast would light a 5'x5' area. cooling the High Intensity Discharge light in a small area would be the greatest concern, with a digital dimable ballast you would be able to dim the light if you are having issues with heat.

I have a 400 Watt Flower Light set up I'm building.
24 cubib feet of space is all I have .
Being a afriad of the heat issue I am adding this:

I have a grow box with CL's and it's working well.
The Ideal is to finish in a flower room set up with stronger lighting.
Controlling the temperature is my greatest concern.
Two more weeks of Veg then FLOWER.
HYDROPONIC is my set up since I just move the net pots from one room to another!

Sucked all the humidity out of the flower room.
5,000 btu A/C maintains room between 75 and 79 F even during a heat wave.
400W Ballast at full blast. rH 55%

Made a stupid mistake however my girls survived my poor judgement!

Rebuilt an old GOLD STAR A/C with a $6.70 High Low Switch for the Fan.

Now I need to sell a DE-HUMIDIFIER.

These would be great for the southeast.

For the west coast we are dry anyway.
A/C for California!
