Some thoughts about Mars Hydro pro & pro II series

I own 4 lamps from Mars Hydro. 1x Mars Pro Epistar 160 and 3x Mars Pro II Epistar 320.

The 160 was the first LED lamp I tried out and for me it was a total game changer. This amazing innovation gave me happier & healthier plants, bigger denser buds plus the plants grew faster under this light than comparable HPS lamps. I also loved that the 160 came with a remote control and was programmable.

I just loved how one could even simulate sunrise & sunset and at the same time save money on electricity. But here's the thing... After 3-4 weeks, the remote suddenly started changing the programming settings all by itself. It changed when lights turn on and off, light mode, strength and so on. This happened to me 3 times during this grow and sadly it ended up causing my plants to go back in veg after almost two months in bloom. Had to emergency harvest that grow because of this bug.

after this incident, I ended up removing the antenna from the lamp and the batteries from the remote and added a manual timer to turn it on and off. A little sad I had to do that, but I simply felt I couldn't trust the software anymore. That is also the reason I bought 3 of the Mars Pro II Epistar 320 lamps for my new grow-room, instead of the version with remote. They have grow & bloom switches and no buggy remote control that can fuck up my grow.

Despite of the remote control issues, I still love my 160, and it is still in use in the tent where I keep mother-plants. I notice many people on this forum are using Mars II or the reflector series. Never tried them myself, but I am certain they are great lamps.

I Wonder how they compare to my Pro series lamps. Anyone out there ever compared them? Anyone else who experienced the "buggy remote" thing? Anyone knows if there is a "fix" for this issue? Would still be cool to be able to use the remote and save some money on electricity - Then again... It's only around 240-270 watt in grow mode. The 3 other lamps are pulling 500-530w each in grow mode and 700~760w each in bloom.

You can see the 3x Mars Hydro Pro II 360 lamps in action in my grow-journal
10 Plant Grow With 3x Mars Hydro LED & Autopot. Each lamp gives 800 watt (compared to HPS/HID) so there is a total of 2400 watts in the room. Expecting the buds to grow big & dense under all that light

Thanks for commenting SmokeSara :)

Have you ever heard about others having problems with their Mars Pro remote control? I use a manual timer on it now because it seems to loose the programming once every month or so. Is there a fix for this issue or am I the only one?
