Okay here is how i did the boiling water method to the roots.
1. Drain res. If you have another fresh clean bucket to use then use that. Some of us have lines and chillers attached to our growing res and I wouldn't pour boiling water in my res for chance of damaging my chiller.

2. Disconnect air line. No longer needed. And if you're going with my suggestion of a different bucket then your good.

3. Boil 1.5-2 gallon of water. We never talked about how much water is needed to cover how much of the root ball. But in my AG grow I filled up the res (it was only a gallon...LOL). I'm in a 6 gallon res now and that water level gets me almost to the bottom of the pod. 6 gallons of hot water...ugh. I'll pour until I get tired.

4. Add 1 cup at a time till the whole bucket/pot is full. If you have holes in the bottom put the plant in a bigger no hole bucket while it's still in original pod. His words my thought process in point #1...LOL.

5. Leave lights on 12/12 for 3 days

6. Chop as normal and hang till they finish drying. now you will see it will be 50-60% dry already when you chop it. The plant has already started to cure while drying.

7. Now you're in your normal drying techniques but your 3 days ahead of the game. Once dry enough do your thing. trim and jar to finish cure. taste a small bud at this point and be amazed how good it is already.

And a few of the back and forth questions he received after this step by step....

I leave the water. no need to drain it. i drain it after i chop. then i dump the root and soil into outdoor compost pile.

I can say this if you try it you will love the results. i was skeptical then after seeing 2 others do it on a private forum i was sold. i will never do another way again to start them drying/curing.

edit if your RH is too high then after it cools you can drain it. the work of the boiling water is done and the roots are now dead.

DC if the roots are dead, why do you continue to feed the plant? At the point of boiling my guess is the plant roots are dead. So no more nutrients from them. The rest of the plant feels like it just got a Stomach Staple and uses all its reserves quickly, the three days is for that time period. The plant is essentially dead, just doesn't know it yet. So the reason its drying quickly after harvest, is that it hasn't taken any water up since you killed the roots and has started drying from the point of water being applied. Just a hypothetical question, if you would had chopped the plant instead of the water boil, would it had been just as dry? Second question, do you think the boiling method actually less stressful to the plant the getting chopped so the plant stays alive longer and uses up the residual nutrients in the leaves and there fore tastes like its been cured a little already, which is what the cure is for, to get the harshness out.

So you use the boiling water one time 3 days before you harvest, or every watering for a few days? Didn't know if it's more than once.

And since I run hempy, should I plug the hole when I do?
yes no more nutes or anything just leave it alone for 3 days. it cannot use anything from the roots. yes curing starts right away i can only say wow from the 3 taste tests ive had so far.

1 time with boiling water 3 days before chop. now make sure this is where you want it at. it will start loosing weight while in the flower room for 3 days. usually around 50-60% water loss. well from the plant i did i got right in that range.

Lol...you know DC420 you started this mess. Ok, so what about us guys that have a drip system. Do we also turn off the drip system when we turn the air off? Although I may keep it running for awhile to help clean out the lines. Whatcha think? Makes sense to me to do so but want to here your input.

okay before you use the boiling water on a plant you remove any auto drip/feed system. drain the res and if you have bubble pots jsut fill a bucket with boiling water and dip your roots in it for a few min. then you can put it back in the other container. remove all air lines also. the only thing you have to do is run boiling water into the roots or soak in boiling water. be careful to not burn yourself. i think i answered your question. if not tell me so and i will try again. i need to smoke a bowl.
