Coos Bay, Ore. - State-licensed marijuana businesses are now allowed in Coos Bay following Tuesday’s election.

Just over 67 percent of voters approved the measure.

Managers at Herbal Choices in Charleston say they've been waiting for this moment since marijuana was legalized in Oregon in 2014.

"Currently, Coos Bay residents do not have a Coos Bay access point for recreational cannabis. The other dispensaries in the area are just on the outskirts of the city. So, it's going to be really awesome to open up that area for a lot of our patients and our recreational users," says store manager Stephanie Easton.

"I think it's great. I think it can really be a boost to tourism and just the economy of Coos County itself, and show everybody that just because we deal with cannabis doesn't mean it's all tie-dye and patchouli oil," says the store’s general manager, Jason Heffner.

Along with a three percent county tax on the sale of recreational marijuana, Coos Bay and North Bend will also implement a city tax on pot.

Heffner says he supports the county tax, but he's not fond of the city tax.

"Local communities should benefit from the sales of cannabis. But then again, only if you're working with us. If you're going to make it so hard for us and try to run us out, when you won't even say where the money is going to be spent."

Revenue from the taxes will go to the general fund.
