Hi, brand new to this site but a seasoned outdoor grower. Tired of helicopters, too much rain, too little rain, too much wind, too hot, too cold, deer, rabbitts, hikers and thieves. So I converted a 20' x 20' storage building into a grow room, (or in this case a grow building). The building was full of junk, 4 truck loads worth, so I cleaned it out, installed vapor barrier with acoustical sealant on all joints and overlaps, insulation, new plywood on walls and ceiling. Then added 3" of stryofoam insulation to the floor and new plywood on top. In the attic I installed 24" of blown atticat insulation.
Since I did a little previous growing in a section of that building (10 -12 pants at a time) and obviously had mite problems with all the dirt and junk in there, so I painted 2 coates of kilz oil base paint on the ceiling, walls, and floor to kill everything and to seal all the black stamps and center lines on the plywood and o.s b. Then used 14 tubes of latex caulking on all the seams and joints. A new insulated steel entrance door went in. There is now no junk or anything in this building that I don't need. When the lights are on it looks like you could perform heart surgery in there.
I live in Easter Canada where our winters are very cold (-26 today) and summers are hot. I have a 220 volt construction heater and 2 600 watt mh/hps lights with elecronic ballasts and 48" hoods. Also have a 1000 watt hps with 48 " hood. The heater hardly ever comes on. The buliding runs at about 65 degrees at the furtherest point from the lights and 75 degrees directly under the lights. Currently only the 2 600 watts are operating. I have 50 w.w clones and 9 purple kush seedlings. Everything is in soil, most are in 1 gal pots except for 5 in 7 gal pots and 5 in 2 gal pots for expirment purposes only. I made a co2 generator with two 5 gallon sealed pails with sugar/yeast/water and some plastic tubing.
So anyways after all the blah, blah, blah my first question as a new member and fairly new indoor grower is my feeding. Outdoor growing I always did the feed water, water thing, but I have read that while my plants are young, (some are almost 12" tall) that I can use optimal A and B and B-1 every time I water, do you agree with this or should I just give water some days? Everything seems to be working though because out of 51 clones I only lost one so far and they are in their second week of grow under the big lights. Most people say "what ever works for you man" but I was looking for some better insite because doing this buiding over and buying extra equipment, then clones and more pots, and soil etc my budget is exhausted, so I am trying to make every move count until my first harvest. Previously I always fed on a schedule but kept an eye on the healthyness of the plant to add more or less. For the most part the plants look healthy and green. Some not doing as well as others and some seem dormant, some with a bit of yellow leaves going on but it's hard to determine if that is a nute deficency or maybe off gasses from the oil based paint. I waited 3 days with the door wide open 24/7 to air out before I added heat then finally the plants.
Sorry for the long post guys and gals, just trying to be accurate and looking for some do's and don'ts info.
Thanks,
