I would love to find a way to get paid to "Re-train" police when it comes to dealing with medical marijuana cardholders. That is a thought for a whole other blog entry.
I was getting a ride with a little old lady who is retired and volunteering to drive rural patients like myself to out-of-town doctors visits. Most of her family is gone but she stays active with her dog. She used to breed them and she has found out that most of them are dieing of some form of cancer rather than a genetic defect like German Sheppards getting hip displasia. I told her that the AMA recently turned around their stand on medical marijuana, wanting it to be put in to schedule 2 and studied, due to finding out it has cancer fighting properties. They may even make up a form of cannabis medicine for her beloved dogs (and all animals?). Who knows? And that is the whole point of opening this up and really testing it. We do not know what it can and can not cure or help with. We have modern methods of delivery so it does not have to be smoked. We always have the option of making butter too. I make great brownies!
My point in all this is you never know who you have a chance to talk to and that one person may change their mind. You may have at least opened up the thinking process of the other person. Some are ready, some are not. That person may have much more influence than you have with a certain group of their friends or work mates. The truth gets out there it just feels like it is going slowly. Be ready to talk about it and use anything the seniors or other groups you are educating, are passionate about; you can always find a way to tie it to hemp and cannabis.
