July 4, 2016 - a date that would be more appropriate for this occasion if I were American.
DH and I started the process today for me to get an MMJ licence. I registered with an LP called Tweed this afternoon. They were impressed that I brought a note from my family doctor listing all my medical needs. I told them that I told him I needed a letter but I didn't tell him what it was for because I strongly suspect if I had, he wouldn't have provided it to me since I asked him a couple of years ago if he would be willing to prescribe MMJ for me and he said not until all other avenues had been explored.
I'll be meeting with a nurse on Wednesday afternoon from Medical Marijuana Services and then I'll Skype with one of their doctors in Thunder Bay.
The girl at Tweed said that she would be very surprised if I did not get approved for a licence due to the way I answered all my health questions today plus having the note so keep your fingers crossed it all goes well.
And, then this afternoon, I had my 3-month interview for a rheumatoid arthritis study group that I belong to and I told my interviewer about the MMJ and the fact that I had been self-medicating for anxiety and insomnia and I just wanted to be able to do it legally.
She said she has about half a dozen clients who use MMJ and they've told her that taking it just relieves their anxiety about the side effects from the medications they're on in addition to helping them with pain relief.
At this point, I don't know everyone I'll tell about my new med but I definitely know who I won't be telling (my dad and at least one of my sisters). Other than that, I'll just go with telling who I feel comfortable telling. I just know that my dad and my one sister definitely wouldn't approve/understand.
July 6, 2016:
I had my Skype interview with a doctor who prescribes medicinal marijuana today and I passed and only lost one fingernail during the interview (I pull off my fingernails when I'm feeling stressed/anxious). DH came with me, which was good because he keeps me steady and for comic relief, he knocked over a folding chair. lol
She was fixated on giving me a prescription to help with all my inflammatory conditions (osteoarthritis, tendonitis, costochondritis and rheumatoid arthritis) but I asked about something to help me deal with anxiety and she said all the ones that she recommended were high in CBD and should help with my anxiety, too but she actually recommended asking my doctor to give me a prescription for Celexa or Escitalopram, neither of which I've ever heard of and besides that, I wasn't coming to her for medication that my doctor would prescribe; I was coming to her for the medicinal marijuana prescription since my doctor refused to entertain it.
There was also a weird time-delay doing Skype where she talked and a few seconds later I heard it and vice versa -- a little disconcerting.
But the long and the short of it is that she's going to prescribe me 3g a day for 12 months. I told her I was extremely interested in eating or ingesting it so that's why she gave me such (what I think is) a bigger order so that I could cook or make tinctures with it. And, she also highly recommended getting a Magical Butter Machine. Does anyone have any info/input on it?
I should be all set to make my first order late next week, which would be good since I'll still be on vacation and therefore, it's easier to visit the LP in person and go over everything.
