<img src="https://www.420magazine.com/gallery/data/1073/user00315.gif" align=left>Striker Ged Smith, who starred for Kirkham and Wesham in last season's FA Vase final, has been suspended by the club until 2009 after failing a drugs test following the Wembley final.
Smith and two-goal hero Matt Walwyn were both tested following Kirkham's 2-1 win over Lowestoft Town in May.

Results revealed that traces of a banned substance - cannabis - were found in Smith's system.

Walwyn's test was negative.

A statement from the North-West Counties League club, said: "Following Ged Smith's recent drug test, we have decided to suspend him until January 1 2009, and pending the results of the Football Association enquiry at which time we will review the situation."

Football Association officers have already met with Smith and Kirkham officials at Lilleshall earlier this month.

Smith played a key role in Kirkham's promotion winning squad when the Freckleton-based club won the North-West Counties title.
