Kc 36, including LOTS OF pics. Fin.

Journal to follow, sometime.....soon? Updates here, till then.

Soil: Homemade compost, perlite, some "seed starting" crap from Walmart, a few rocks, some Black Kow. Drains rather quickly, but there's water catchers under the pots.

Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1, 2x/week or less. Water 3x/week or less.

Seeds were "Regular."

Lights have been on 24h since germination. CFLs, and LED that friend gave me. :)

Right side one is tied down. Left one is free to grow however she wants. Probable bending later on.

Spouted on 1 September.

Last pics are from today.

Kind of a two-week time lapse. Enjoy. :)

22 September, switchedto 12/12. And took a few pics. Switched a few bulbs, but not all yet. Over the next week, filling most of the light sockets with 2700k lights, and leaving maybe two 5000k lights. Also, over a week or so, giving just water, then flower nutes (Orchid Better Bloom 11-35-15; or something better, not sure yet). Hoping for a harvest before or around the winter solstice.

The gal on teh left is definitely female, but I'm having doubts as to teh one on the right being female. The right one matured more quickly, at least I think, having alternating leaves a lot sooner than teh left, which still doesn't have alternating nodes. It's clusters of new growth at the tip of each stalk is remarkably non-female-looking, but not male looking yet, I don't think anyway. If it does turn out to be male, I'll take it out of there, giving me more room for the female on the left. I have new pics, but I'll upload them later or tomorrow or something.

The gal stretched a LOT, but that seems to be slowing, and I'm seeing more and more new female flowers. I'll try and get pics later. Sorry if my memory sucks.

Oh, and, added some tubes to the left and right of her. :) Soldered all electrical connections, then insulated with hot melt glue, since I have no more wire nuts or vinyl tape. 12VDC-powered ballasts, running 120vac bulbs. No idea how that works, but I'm happy it does. They're T-8 bulbs, so not a whole lot of output, but they're better than no extra light. Hoping for bigger buds all around, instead of just at the top. Still lettin' her grow as she wishes, and I've only pulled a few leaves that were blocking airflow, or weren't getting any light. Hot here lately, and need extra airflow when the temps near the upper lights reach mid-90's, so been leaving door open while lights are on, with a fan blowing into the growspace.

Also, I made the fixtures myself, out of Al flashing. Quite sturdy, electrically grounded, and shiny. :)

Here they are, prepare yourselves, for a many-branched beast of a bitch. ;) :) I love her to death, and it's looking like it's gonna be a green solstice. :)

Oh, and I cleaned the leaves today, too. Used a soft damp rag, didn't have a sponge. Did it in the afternoon, give them time to dry before dark. Some of the top leaves touched the laps this morning, and got burnt a little. Moved my lights up, and hung LED light vertically sorta "in" the plant.

She's been coming along beautifully. Looked at her under a scope, and I'm seeing the first signs of trichome production. Pics are from 27 October.

Today's pictures! Miss KC36's First of November Glamour Shots. Flowering began on or about the Fall Equinox, today is 1 November, Equinox was on or about 21/22 September. Too stoned right now to do the math to figure out number of days, but I think this is about a month and a week or so into flower. Today I'm fortunate that it's a nice cool day here in Florida, and I'm not running my A/C, but it's still a little less than 80 deg(F)/25 deg(C) in the closet. :) Here's her pics for today. I ought mention, I moved the left-side tubes up a bit, since light was being wasted on the container and overflow pan. Right-side tubes I kept lower, because they're keeping my as-yet-not-quite-rooted-but-flowering-clone alive.

By the way, y'all are :welcome: to comment, rate, medicate, participate here. I should make a journal, but I've sort of been wanting to wait to publish a journal until I can make a really epic sort of time-lapse series of photos, documenting this for the strain, because there does not seem to be a lot of documentation on KC 36 (from KC-Brains in Holland) out there. I'm also hoping to be able to contribute to Herbie's, where I got these seeds from. No idea if they'll want any contribution, but I plan to offer documentation.

I have been trying to figure out if I should be using other nutrients in this grow at this stage. I understand that Nitrogen shouldn't be added in excess at this point, but I'm also wondering if I should be adding any at all. Fan leaves are still very very green, and I know that the plant will cannibalize her leaves for nitrogen if there isn't enough in the soil. So, I've been wondering if I should, at this point, begin using a fertilizer with less Nitrogen in it. I'm currently using "ORCHID BETTER-BLOOM(tm) Bloom Enhancement Water Soluble Fertilizer" "11-35-15 PLUS Essential Minor Elements, Fortified with Phosphorus to promote abundant blooms, No urea!" by "BETTER-GRO." (I just now realized this is made in my own state, in Arcadia, FL. Cool! Local biz. ;) )

She doesn't seem to be getting any taller. Her buds are getting bigger almost every day, though.

THough I am seeing some trichome development, I'm not seeing a lot of it. Today gave a good dose of nutes, and molasses.

The other day, I ended up getting really drunk, and took 3 or 4 bottom branches off. I have no idea where they went, but I know I didn't smoke them. Stupid me. Taking a long break from the sauce. Plant is fine, but I'm sore about removing branches. Been wanting to quit doing that. Pics in the next few days. Oh, and I have been noticing tiny brown spots. I closely examined the spots (they're on a few fan leaves only), and did not find any insects. Maybe my cat sneezed on the plant, I dunno. Not too worried about it. Top bud is getting BIG. It's gonna be a green equinox, if the plant finishes and dries in time. Hopefully enough to last through January. I'm thinking this is going to turn into a two-harvest plant, but only because I'm using fluorescent lights, and bottom buds are popcorns right now.

While thinking on the throne this morning, I figured I can get, at most, three harvests a year, with my current setup. Knowing that, I either need to grow bigger plants, or get a separate veg space. Since space is a tight commodity in my trailer, I may have to simply grow bigger. I think that might demand better lighting. I want to consider LEDs, because I'm not sure I could manage the heat from HID lamps. I could go small HID, about 250w, and have much more light than I currently have, but if I'm gonna go HID, I may as well go up to 400w, for only a little more cash, but a handful of more heat. In FL's so-called "winter" heat isn't much of an issue. During summer, however, I may need to go strictly LED. I've been looking at these. Price seems right, just not right now (wallet is skin and bones, no meat inside).

Harvested. She had mostly white trichs, but had a not-too-small spattering of clear, as well. I'm not sore about earliness here. She was appearing to not really go anywhere, and was not nearly as frosty as I anticipated. I kept the half of top bud for flowers, other half for buddy of mine, rest went into BHO. Was my first attempt at this, and I minded safety above all else. Ran out of butane, though, and am planning another run when I get more gas. Very potent oil. Flowers not so much. Top is almost dry. Tomorrow pulling stem, and starting some new stuff at 12/12 from seed. Gonna try that again, with my compost this time.

Well, not sure I can blame genetics, and not sure I can blame me, and not sure if there is any blame at all.

KC 36 doesn't do much for me, though. Quite a disappointing crop, sadly. Grow was fairly fast, and my biggest yield so far, but I feel as if I could get better medicine from hemp. Taste is good, smell is every-so-barely chemical-ish, maybe a tiny bit spicy, a bit earthy. Honey oil, from bottom buds, came out potent, but in a miniscule quantity. I ran out of solvent, so going to run again first chance. 11g of popcorns. No real sugar leaves. Tons of fans. Well, and ounce, dry, of fan leaves. Had 15-17g (if my memory serves me this very tired morning (I'm tired, the morning isnt, though) of smoke from top of plant. Still working on that, but I'm not happy with it. No cough, at least. Clean, gray/white ashes. Virtually no medicinal value I could find, however.
