I'll never get it

I've smoked in the past, as a kid as a matter of fact and even here and there as an adult. I truly have enjoyed it when I've done it and miss it.

I'm almost 48 years old, I'm addicted to cigaretts that the government has allowed the tabacco industry to fill with chemicals, additives and addictives. I can kill myself with cigarettes, I'm welcome to rot my liver with alcohol, but I can't roll a joint, legally and smoke it.

I function so well when I've used it. I'm not a muncher or sleeper, I'm actually much more productive in every way. But since I have grandchildren and a couple of adult teens, I can't smoke because it's illegal and I have to set an example.

I know my kids have tried it. They're in college now. I use the don't ask don't tell policy in my home. I do tell them if they consider it, they should always make themselves safe and think of it as alcohol. No driving or doing things like that when they aren't safe with the people they're with etc...

I don't understand why anyone should be arrested for using marajuanna. I understand arresting the cartels who fight for territory, I understand arresting murderers, I just wish that this government would realize that people are going to get it if they want it and we'll continue to make the cartels filthy rich and increasingly dangerous.

It's a natural substance, it actually helps from a medicinal standpoint for some.

As far as growing it on your own, why not? The government could sell the seeds and people could grow it themselves if they chose to.

I'm always confused as to what vegitation I should grow in my 3d earthbox, I would love to be able to nurture a few pot plants and know that the police wouldn't come and arrest me for it.

I believe people would gladly purchase it from the local Walgreens if it were legal. Millions of people would pay the taxes and buy it.

It's true that the fact that pot is illegal is making the cartels rich. It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. And now that we're in an economic crisis, what better way to stimulate the economy? Trust me, it would be economic stimulus on steroids.

The bottom line is, if we don't legalize soon, no one will know anyone who won't have been directly affected by some violence directly related to this prohibition of a perfectly natural product that could, with the stroke of a pen, create a billion perhaps even trillion dollar industry.

You want to talk about creating jobs? Legalize pot.

One additional note. I've heard of cases whereas therapists that are treating chronic alcoholics advise them to smoke pot instead of picking up a bottle if they had to. Alcohol and cigarettes are far more harmful to the human body than marajuanna.

From one who has been a caregiver to alcoholics many times over the years, even sat at bedsides of friends and relatives who have died of liver failure from alcohol addiction, I will forever be an advocate for the legalization of pot.

STOP THE MADNESS ALREADY!

:thanks:

Thanks, Herb!

I wonder if anyone happened to have caught B.O's : (what must it be like to have these intitials? hahahaa!) reaction to a million people asking about the legalization of marajuana.

All of these people all over the country with the same opion and all he could do was insinuate that we're a bunch of idiots by asking what he thought of legalizing.

I helped my son with his US history lesson the other day and was interested in the fact that in the first 100 days of Roosevelt's presidency he ended prohibition. Welllll... wouldn't we think that BO would think a little clearer with regard to legalizing Canibus?

We're in a horrid recession and he's completely blowing off the possibilities!

It's completely ridiculous. Taxpayers are paying billions just to keep non violent Canibus users in jail for using something that is completely natural. Oh YES! BO, it would make far more sense to pay Mexico to do nothing more than they've already done and pay to keep non-violent herb users in prison, than to legalize, release these people and reduce the 500,000 or more "violaters" in jail at our expense.

The government just handed MILLIONS of our dollars AGAIN over to Mexico to fight a "war on drugs". COME ON! Stop PAYING to fight it, just legalize it!

Keep our money here in the US and legalize the very substance that is A) non addictive and far healthier than cigaretts and alcohol and B) The largest trade the cartels have in the first place!

I would love to know that people who made these choices for themselves wouldn't be considered criminals. If women (and I am one) can have the option of free choice in regard to abortion or what to do with their bodies. This same rule should apply to anyone.

The difference is, some of the users of some of the more harmful substances like cigaretts, alcohol and other truly harmful substances, just may choose this one instead and would be a hell of a lot better off in doing so.

And uh, again, I would like to mention the billions of dollars we would be able to recover and lives we could save. This substance remaining illegal is killing WAY more people by being illegal than it would by legalizing it. Just in cartel hits alone.

Think about it.

You know, I thought when my generation took power, things would change. I am at a total loss as to why Obama can't see the financial benefits of ending prohibition. Somebody must be using big bucks and/or pressure to keep legalization off the table.
