3:45 p.m. - So, I wasn't planning on getting high today as it's my last day of vacation before returning to work tomorrow but you know that sometimes life just says you have to do something even if it's not planned.
I guess it started last week when I was granted a licence to use medicinal marijuana. Of course, the first thing I did was order some meds, right? I mean that was kind of the point, right?
And, since the LP's minimum order is 5 grams of each med and since I already had more cannabis than I thought I was ever going to get through as DH had found stuff for me over the years and bought it for me and then we found a Canadian mail-order bud company that didn't require you to have a MMJ licence and soon we were ordering bud online and getting it shipped to us via Canada Post! It was beyond my wildest dreams as I was literally rolling in product.
And, then I got the MMJ licence and even though I already had lots of product, DH wanted me to order MMJ to see if the product was more consistent in its delivery than the non-legal stuff so also being curious, I decided to order some meds.
So, I ordered 5 grams of 4 different kinds of cannabis -- 2 indicas, 1 sativa and 1 hybrid -- 20 grams in total.
And, then we had our BBQ on July 9th and corn on the cob was on the menu and since we don't usually use butter, I asked DH to pick up some when he was at the grocery store so he did.
But the difference between me picking up some butter (I would have gotten the smallest package possible due to not wanting the leftovers to go to waste) and DH picking up some butter (he got the largest package for the best price and unsalted [don't know/remember why he said he got unsalted] -- one pound of unsalted butter) has been stated is huge and another reason why writing out a shopping list for him is way more complicated than the one I do for me.
So, apparently, a lot of people don't put butter on their cobs of corn because even though there were 10 people eating the corn including 2 kids, they used less than 1/4 of the pound, which left me with the leftovers.
Then I was prescribed MMJ and placed my first order and I had this extra butter and lots of cannabis already in the house so DH suggested I make cannabutter or something so I did.
I used a bag of weed that I grounded up with my brand-new spice and herb grinder and it weighed a total of 17 grams.
I followed the cannabutter recipe I found on Leafly and ended up with 7 fluid ounces of cannabutter when all was said and done and when it was done, I put it in a container and stuck it in the fridge and there it sat until I could figure out what to do with it.
I didn't want to make something really tasty for fear I would eat too much cannabis while indulging but there aren't a lot of recipes that I knew of that I could use the whole batch in, all 17g of pot and 3/4 pound of butter so I went looking for recipes with lots of butter in them and I didn't really feel like putting a lot of effort to the actual cooking with it since I ended up putting it off until today and I already had stuff I had to do to get ready for back to work tomorrow (YUCK!).
So when I was at the grocery store yesterday, I went looking for prepackaged baked goods to try and find something that would use a lot if not all of the butter and the best I came up with was a prepackaged Blondies mix, which called for 4 ounces of the 7 with the mix and the package said that it made 16 servings but since I was planning on using all of the butter (7 ounces in a recipe only calling for 4) and all of the pot (17 grams), 16 servings was just way too big -- my limit is approximately .375 grams and 16 squares would be 1.06 grams each, which some people might be able to do but I know that if I ate that much, I'd be high a little longer than a day. So, I decided with the help of my husband to cut the squares into 48 squares, which I did using a ruler as my hand/eye perception is just not that good or exact.
In the meantime, my new MMJ turned up in the mail yesterday so of course, I had to try it, right?
Last night, I had the TWD Lot #4 (indica - high in THC) as it was the only one that I had ordered for insomnia. I vaped about 8 hits of the bowl and within 15 minutes I was asleep and I stayed asleep for most of the night, minus bathroom breaks. Now, I haven't fallen asleep that quickly in FOREVER but I did spend the afternoon outside sleeping in the sun and swimming and reading so my falling asleep so quickly may have been influenced by that, too but so far, I'm pretty impressed. When I'm not feeling high, I'll do some strain reviews.
And, DH really wanted me to try the TWD Lot #3 (Hybrid - less than 1% THC) as it was for daytime use to treat anxiety and chronic pain so I vaped about 6 hits of it when I finished breakfast around 10:30 a.m. (I'd been up since 7:30 and had had a banana before exercising for almost an hour.) I didn't want to take it before I exercised or ate breakfast just in case it knocked me out and then I wouldn't get anything done for the day so I vaped it around 11 or so while I was making my cannabutter Blondies, cutting up watermelon for snacks and making a bean and corn salad for my work lunches this week.
Within about 5 minutes or so, I got a little bit of a buzz on (DH is on nights this week but he had gotten up to use the bathroom and said that if I don't want a buzz, I need to vape less than I was when getting high was the point - Duh! Why didn't I think of that?) but it soon evened out and I got everything done that I wanted to get done including all the math needed to make those damn Blondies!
I started feeling a little tired/sleepy around 1:30 so I decided to try the other daytime med, Boaty McBoatface (sativa - high in CBDs - it's good for pain, too so since I'm a little achy today, that's another reason I decided to try it). I vaped it in about 4 hits of the bowl (this time) and again, in about 5 minutes, I felt pretty high and actually a little anxious so after having some lunch (bean & corn salad and raspberries), I vaped more of the TWD #3 but only doing 3 hits of the bowl and you know, I feel pretty good.
But then there were the Blondies. They were done baking and I think I even overdid them a bit but with that much butter, I wanted to make sure they were chewable. I had told DH that it would be hard to make them and not try them today since I was going back to work tomorrow.
But if you remember from the beginning of this long story, (So, I wasn't planning on getting high today...), sometimes plans just go awry and today was one of those days.
I was pretty good. I didn't eat one even though they were falling apart and sticking to my fingers when I was cutting them up and putting them in a freezer bag for the freezer but seriously? The crumbs were sticking to my fingers and small pieces were left in the pan and I've gotta tell you, I'm one of those people that definitely loves finger-licking good food (hence part of my weight loss problems probably). I love scraping out the pan after I've made Shake 'n Bake or chocolate mousse or pasta with pesto sauce or my garlic maple pork tenderloin marinade because they're all really tasty so how could I not lick my fingers that were covered in cannabis-infused Blondies, right? And, then I ate one of the small pieces from the pan, which I figured might have been between 1/3 and 1/2 of the 1/48 in the 8x8 pan and that's when I knew I was in trouble so I stopped. I didn't eat anymore. The squares are in the freezer (except for 10 I put in a container for DH to take to work to share with his friends, if he likes) but the crumbs are still in the pan along a few small pieces that crumbled off. I don't know whether to save them or toss them or what so there they sit.
And, now I'm higher than I had intended to be today but I did get a lot of what I wanted to accomplish accomplished and I don't think I'm too high and I'm going to try the TWD Lot #4 again tonight and if it helps me fall asleep despite being higher than I had planned, then all the better.
