you can also dab some rubbing alcohol onto a q-tip and physically remove a lot of them. They will die upon contact with the alcohol and shouldn't harm the plant unless you use excessive amounts. you can dap it with a dry q-tip afterwards to get any extra alcohol left on the plant. keep throwing away all the used q-tips in a plastic bag so you don't spread the cooties!

Spraying vigorously with water can dislodge many little unwanted critters on one's plants. Hopefully you can do it where they don't fall back onto other plants. A light concentration of Neem extract will discourage many plant eaters. (Neem is a tree from India with medicinal and anti biotic properties). It won't harm the plants, either. Some people use a small amount of soap like Dr. Bronner's mixed in water to spray for pests. There used to be a company that made Safer's Soap for plants that we used on houseplants to avoid toxic pesticides. if you keep up the pressure, you can win this! Just be prepared for a protracted battle and avoid doing anything radical that might shock the plants. If you are successful in killing off a number of mites, the plants may also respond with their own immune systems to help fend off the invaders. Afterwards, you may want to examine how the bugs got in and to be ultra careful in the future when entering the grow area not to introduce unwanted visitors.
