It is no wonder why people in my area flock the doctors offices and emergency rooms for prescriptions, with the strict laws on marijuana here they have no other choice. In order to relieve pain, symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar, OCD, and many other illnesses or diseases they have to! The state should realize the benefits of at least decriminalization would be greater than they could ever anticipate! Our jails here are crowed with people abusing and selling prescription medications, if we were able to grow a few plants for personal use it would significantly reduce the people in the jails, emergency rooms and doctors offices. What I can't seem to grasp is the state has got to see more clearly than I that most of the younger generation here are becoming addicted to these prescription pills and costing the state a lot of money because the young ones are getting in trouble and crowding juvenile courts systems, they are landing in treatment centers, and some are even dying. Legalizing marijuana would bring in revenue to the state which we desperately need since a lot of the coal mines are being forced to close thanks to Obama laws on coal. Also, legalization could reduce the numbers of pill addicts making frequent trips to the ER and make wait times for those who are genuinely sick shorter, most of the addicts go to the ER so they get free service which puts financial burdens on doctors and other tax payers. We won't know until summer how things turned out with the progress in Charleston (the capital of WV) on legalization for medical use but as it stands now the laws are so bad it scares many of us here into suffering or becoming addicted to the pharmaceutical industry!
