So Con, how do you identify the Chem phenos vs. the OG phenos? I see wider leaves and more leaf mass. Any other indicators?

For me it's kinda easy, cause I grew the mother strain (Aurora Ultra) for 2 years and I know very well how she looks. This is her in early flowering:

As you can see she has quite long internodes, very little leaf, but grows quite big and resinous buds with very little fertilisation. AU was BXed once to OG Kush before she became a staple strain in lembatoast's garden, which means dominant traits have been strengthened, Crossing to Chemdawg '91/NYCD via father caused this strain to become a bigger producer, changed terpenoid profile completely (one of the biggest advantages in this case) and changed the structure in roughly 50% of the phenos. It became less of a hash strain though. Aurora Ultra produces trichomes, which practically come off by themselves and they make for A+ grade dry sift hash and concentrate while those on UD usually stick to buds almost as glue, so flowers need long drying/curing process to be perfectly smokable.

A breakdown of phenos in F1 UD was that most of them leaned on AU side, which I call OG phenos. Here they are:

High is more typical of OG here with euphoric/soaring onset that staggers into indica relaxation after and 1,5 hr or so. Excellent mix, but with overwhelming take off. These plants however produce less and they're more prone to bud worm infestation. They also branch out poorly as you can see in F2, so you have to top and LST them to get better yield. There's also a freak variation of OG in this bunch, which is late-flowering, nutrient and weather sensitive and also prone to throwing bananas. It has a very weird metallic/onion smell going on on top of everything else, so I threw away every seed from this bud.

After that I got three bushy phenos, which I called Boom, Chem and Dog (well the easiest I could do). The Dog pheno was the biggest and most vigorous and it definitely fell on part of the father. This is her:

However in late flowering she became a wispy plant with very weak branches that started breaking off and had to be supported. She looked like that:

If you take away fat indica leaves she pretty much looks like Chemdawag '91, which is very weak plant (years of passing the clone in indoor environment did her in) and not a big producer... and I'm not talking about rip-offs in seed form. This pheno had zippy almost pure sativa high and great bubblegum expression, but around 30% of buds molded and yield was way too small for a plant that big.

Of all phenos I found the strongest and the most interesting to be Chem and Boom pheno, which are exactly in the middle of the way between the father and the mother. They are bushy, they branch out very well and they produce rock hard nuggets, which are not pest magnets. They are also exceptionally immune to mold and finish flowering in rain or high RH.

Boom pheno is slightly more on the AU side with similar, but more ragged colas and familiar lemoney/pissy smell. It produces very powerful soaring high that takes time to hit, but when it does it knocks you off after 10 or 20 minutes when THC level in blood peaks. It produces very confusing state of mind a kind of roller coaster high where you have very little control over your thoughts and is also very introspective. Very complex and long-lasting too up to 3,5 hrs easily. There's an indica side to it, but usually it kicks in after 2 hrs or later, so not really a relaxing kind of smoke. Here she is in late flowering:

Chem pheno on the other hand is more piney/peppery and fuely and is most indica-leaning pheno of all mentioned. She carries less THC and slightly more CBD I think, but provides an almost equal mix of relaxation and stimulation and really makes you close your eyelids after 2 hrs or so. She flowers into long very hard colas and pests stay away from her! She's the best producer too and very easy to trim due to excellent calyx-to-leaf ratio! My personal favourite. That's her:

In F2 obviously genes were shuffled, but it mostly affected terpene profiles. Due to bubblegum male used for inbreeding in early and middle flowering fruity tones are apparent more often, but they will still put on fuel and high-wise they're identical. They'll either lean on sativa or indica side, but it really is a balanced strain. Ok, now I feel like I really created a guide to UD here
