Growing hydroponics, and aeroponics systems is simple and easy. Some might be overwhelmed by the many hydroponics kits that are available. However, your options can be simplified into four main categories-drain to waste, ebb, and flow, nutrient film technique, and, aeroponic systems.
Drain to waste systems do not recycle nutrient once it has been delivered to the plant roots. This is actually an advantage of the system because it always delivers fresh nutrient solution to plant roots. This results in higher yields, and greater resistance to root pathogens.
Ebb, and flow systems introduce the nutrient from beneath. The root zone is flooded to a predetermined level. Then the nutrient is drained back into the reservoir. An advantages of the ebb, and flow system are its simplicity, its low power consumption, and its relative silence.
A nutrient film system delivers nutrient from above the root zone. the roots sit in a sloping irrigation channel. The nutrient flow from the high end of the channel, over the roots, and into the reservoir. The flow can be pulsing, or continuous. Pulsing nutrient film technique is recommended for better root aeration.
Aeroponics systems suspend the root zone. The Nutrient is sprayed over the roots in a mist, of fog. Some advantages of aeroponics systems are, optimal root aeration, and no growing medium.
Excellent results have been achieved using each one of these systems. Choose the one that is right for you. As always, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself-live to grow.
