First time grower needing help

So I planted a random seed about 5-6 weeks ago. I am a casual smoker and have been for about 5 years now. This is the first time I have attempted to grow my own plant. For about the first 2-3 weeks my plant was doing good. But after it reached three nodes bugs and shit just started eating it all up! And the bottom node yellowed and fell off :/ ... I didn't really think much of it because it had great growth and two other nodes. But after another week past the bugs got worse and worse! My plant has three nodes at this point since the bottom one died out and she grow a little bit. Eventually almost all of my fan leaves had holes from bugs. So I looked up natural home remedies for pest and made a solution with garlic and hot sauce and soap and water mixed good. I would spray my plant down every day. It worked for the most part but the bugs just kept on munching on my plant. Around the fourth week I lost the second from the bottom node from bugs eating it. At this point I'm pissed off and wanting to fuck some bugs up !!! So I came up with an idea and put a screen around her to rid of mostly all bugs but I have lost two sets of the bottom nodes. So now my plant is 5-6 weeks old she is about a foot or two high. Still has three nodes with good growth. Screen around my plant. The branches are purple not sure if its the type of strain or what. I'm just trying to get a little of help from y'all long time growers out there. Any tips or any thing realty that can help me out please do tell me !!! Thinks
