First Purple Kush Grow

Hello everyone. Happy to be a new member. In this blog i will be documenting a Purple Kush plant that I was lucky enough to grow from seed. Just to get things straight and start this thing off right... if your looking for PH and nutrients and mixtures etc. you got the wrong guy...I fertilize but, I just read the directions on the side of the box and that's it. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you and I'm not here to bash or take away from anyone's experience. I'm just doing this for fun and I enjoy gardening. In the summer I usually have the nicest vegetable garden around, so I thought my skills could transfer indoors for the long dark winter.
This is not my first time growing indoors. Last time was some excellent White Widow that yielded me a pretty decent 93gr. from 2 plants. However, I wasn't interested in blogging my progress at the time. But, times change and I've got the drive and the time to participate for this grow. That being said, this IS my first time growing Purple Kush. I had heard that it was hard to grow, and I'd have to agree because I only got 1 out of 5 seeds to come up. But, I must be lucky because I've got a real nice plant coming along. I'm only 4 weeks in from seed and already she's starting to bush out after topping her for the first time. I am using a 400WATT metal halide conversion bulb because it is an HPS ballast. This is because I learned that MH is better for the veg stage as it has a better blue spectrum to get those ladies fat and bushy. I will change over to the Super HPS bulb I have purchased when we hit the flowering stage. This has a better red/orange spectrum which mimics the shortening days of autumn in order to produce those nice flowers we all call 'bud'. I have a fan and a heater that are on pretty much all the time. And I have a thermometer that reads 77 degrees F at all times. This temperature seems like the most optimal in my 5x5 space. Also, easy to maintain.
I realize that there are a thousand things to do and a thousand bucks to spend... but I am no scientist, and I'm not rich. I would appreciate any tips or tricks that would help me get the best yield out of this lone ranger. I will be scrogging once I build the damn thing and when the time comes to use it. I have done a fair amount of research on this and it seems like a pretty cool idea.
Basically, I just want to share my experience with some other people and maybe learn something new in the process. I will add photos periodically to show my progress. Invite me and I will surely join. Thanks for reading.
