Card is on it's way :)

I got the MMAR forms from Michelle Rainey and I had a friend who is also a card holder to come in and explain the process. We felt like we had ganged up on her(my doctor), but it is for a good cause. I have chronic pain that has been verified by MRI and X-Rays. The Doc knows I am not faking my pain. She is just uncomfortable prescribing a herb that she can not control the dose(since different types have different levels of THC and other cannabinoids). Doctors like to have control, so they naturally distrust anything they can not control (that is my theory and I am sticking to it). The long story shortened is the papers are on there way to Ottawa by registered mail and now I have to wait 6-8 weeks for the card.

I want to publicly thank Michelle and my friend Mike for making this happen.

In that room we changed a person, a doctor and we changed too. I hope she does not regret her choice. I will not do anything to make her regret it. I can now sit back and not do anything since I now can smoke to my heart's content, but the wiser side of me who likes to cause trouble (in a good way) is now free to do even more activism. People helped me and now I have to pass that on forward.

I hope it comes in for you. I tried talking to my doc about it and tho he wasn't against it he didn't sound very enthusiastic. He's a transplanted doc from South Africa and probably doesn't want to rock the boat. I've been treated for chronic depression on and off for thirty years since my early twenties after a vicious hammer attack that almost killed me. Regular and serious bouts of insomnia can leave me so sleep deprived that I have trouble functioning. Along with those I have had trouble with bursitis and an unknown form of arthritis for years that greatly reduces my mobility and is a constant source of pain. MJ helps me way more than the poisons the doctor prescribes for me and I wonder if I'm suffering enough to be eligible for a card?

My wife is considered permanently disabled due to scoliosis, degenerative spinal disease, etc and is collecting AISH, (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped), so that is an avenue we are looking into.

I sux to be a fully grown adult in my 50s and be told I can't use a wonderful herb like cannabis to treat what ails me.

Thanks for letting me bend your ear. :peace:

Here is a new update. I got the card and I am waiting for papers from my grower. It is just a matter of time...

You and your wife do qualify, so keep trying. Ask the doctor if he would sign year after year if you could get a pain specialist to sign the first one. Then work on finding one who will sign. Sorry, I am not much help. I can be a big help as an advocate who goes in the Doctors office with a potential card holder and then do what I can to find a grower for the person or give them links on how to grow .

Thanks a lot Michael. Doctors don't stay long around here. It's a very rural area in the north country. I may just print out a bunch of info I glean from the web and ask him to look at it if he has the time. He knows that I'm not a druggie and just looking for a way to get wasted all the time. I rarely do enough to get stoned. A small hit every couple of hours is enough to take the edge off and give me a better outlook on life.

We may be moving in a year or so to southern BC to be near family and half decent medical facilities. I just hope I don't get busted in the meantime.

Getting a grower is a done deal so no problems there. He'd love to be a designated caregiver. ;0)

:thanks: :peace:
